The Dr. Stone anime is nearing its end, and the Spring 2026 season is expected to bring exciting science, high-stakes challenges, and strange puzzles to wrap up Senku’s story well. The current part of Season 4 has been a calm introduction to what’s coming, which is what most viewers anticipated. Now, Dr. Stone needs to make this relatively peaceful storyline incredibly engaging, and the latest episode has set everything up for it to do just that.
The world of Dr. Stone is growing again, and this time, the advancements feel particularly significant. While Senku previously benefited from the skills of Chelsea and Joel, the newest addition – a math and coding expert named Sai Nanami – promises an even bigger leap forward. Just as the invention of the computer revolutionized society and technology in real life – enabling everything from email to space travel – Sai’s expertise is poised to create a similar breakthrough within the series.
Sai’s Computer Mastery Will Make the Moon Mission a Reality
Even 1960s Computing Was Enough to Get the Job Done
Although Dr. Stone isn’t based on historical events, the main character, Senku Ishigami, has a strong understanding of the history of science and uses that knowledge to guide his inventions. From the very beginning, Senku has carefully planned his technological advancements, understanding that some things need to be created before others. For example, he wouldn’t attempt to build advanced machines like the Perseus or the New Perseus without first securing the necessary fuel and equipment. This careful approach also applies to his ambitious plans for a moon mission and building computers. Senku recognizes these goals are currently beyond his kingdom’s capabilities, but he believes Sai’s skills will make them possible.
Once Sai gets the support and resources he needs, he’s ready to start building computers. In the latest episode of Dr. Stone, he was upset about the lack of technology, but immediately started writing Dragon Quest code inside the New Perseus. Sai is incredibly intelligent and eager to work, he just needs the necessary tools to fully utilize his skills. Senku points out that even NASA succeeded with simple, hand-coded computers thanks to people like Margaret Hamilton, which means building a computer for Sai to calculate a path to Why-Man’s base on the moon should be achievable.
Adding Sai to the team will be the final piece of Senku’s plan to build a strong group of allies, and he’s likely the last specialist they need to make the moon mission happen. Senku already has incredible scientific knowledge, plus the experience of Dr. Xeno (who worked at NASA), Kaseki’s amazing building skills, and Joel’s talent for working with small, intricate parts. With everyone working together, they should be able to launch the mission, and the next episode will probably hint at that. We won’t see the official countdown start just yet, but once Sai joins, the Kingdom of Science will be very close to achieving their ambitious goal.

Sai and Ryusui Must Figure Out Their Strained Brotherly Bond
Sai’s Personal Life Is a Bug in the System
It’s ironic that Sai Nanami faces yet another challenge on his path to becoming a legendary figure like Margaret Hamilton. While Dr. Stone excels at showcasing the science and technology of the past, it also skillfully weaves in personal stories that highlight the human side of both the old and new worlds. We saw this with the heartwarming relationship between Kohaku and Ruri in the first season, and with Tsukasa’s motivations behind building his Empire of Might. Now, the dynamic between Sai and Ryusui is the main thing preventing Senku from creating the first computer in the Stone Age.
The final part of the Dr. Stone anime didn’t have much excitement or fighting, so the story needs a new problem for the characters to face. The latest episode introduced that problem: Ryusui has a big brother named Sai, who’s a brilliant mathematician and coder who prefers to work on his own. Ryusui, however, is very pushy and keeps trying to get Sai involved in his plans, which is frustrating for Sai.
Sai still feels Ryusui doesn’t quite understand or appreciate what he wants, which is creating tension between them. It’s now up to the crew of the New Perseus to help Sai and Ryusui reach a compromise where both feel valued and respected within the Kingdom of Science. The success of their upcoming moon mission depends on resolving this issue.
