Dragon Ball: 7 Strongest Frost Demons, Ranked

Frost Demons, also called the Frieza Clan or Lineage of Evil, are among the most powerful races in the Dragon Ball universe. In Universe 7, they’re considered the strongest race naturally, possessing incredible power and potential. Frieza, even without any training, was powerful enough to conquer the entire universe and faced no real opposition.

The Frost Demons are particularly compelling villains, and their appearances in spin-off series like Neko Majin Z and Super Dragon Ball Heroes add to their intrigue. With the Dragon Ball Super manga preparing to begin the Black Frieza Saga after Toyotarou’s break, the immense power of the Frost Demon clan is more important than ever.

7. Chilled is Realistically Weaker Than First Form Frieza

Chilled is the ancestor of Frieza and the primary antagonist in Dragon Ball: Episode of Bardock. When Frieza’s Supernova attack unexpectedly sends Bardock back in time, he encounters Chilled on an early version of Planet Vegeta. Chilled easily overpowers Bardock, though it’s worth noting Bardock’s Power Level is only 10,000 at that point. Bardock also takes a severe beating from Dodoria, who manages to inflict massive damage with a single attack despite having a Power Level of 22,000.

It’s possible Chilled wasn’t very powerful, with a power level around 10,000. When Bardock transforms into a Super Saiyan, his power jumps to 500,000, and he easily defeats and kills Chilled. Interestingly, because Bardock achieved this transformation, Chilled warned other Frost Demons about it, creating a legend that ultimately led Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta and send Bardock back in time. However, these events aren’t part of the official Dragon Ball story.

6. Kuriza is Frieza’s Son, But Nothing Special

Kuriza first appeared in Neko Majin Z, a continuation of Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga. He’s Frieza’s son, but unlike his father, he isn’t very malicious or powerful. Toriyama has stated that Frieza and King Cold are the only truly strong members of their family, so Kuriza isn’t as formidable.

Kuriza is mostly known for being a playable character in certain editions of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2. He’s likely more powerful than his father, Chilled, but significantly weaker than Vegeta at the end of Dragon Ball Z. The Neko Majin Z manga further demonstrates this, showing that Kuriza is also less powerful than Neko Majin Z, who becomes one of Goku’s pupils.

5. King Cold’s Power Level is Comparable to Mecha Frieza’s

Before Frieza became a major threat, his father, King Cold, ruled Universe 7 and was incredibly powerful. He was the one who controlled the Saiyan race. When King Cold appears at the beginning of the Cell Saga, both Gohan and Krillin sense a power level equal to that of Mecha Frieza. While Frieza is actually a bit stronger than his father, the difference isn’t huge, according to Dragon Ball Z.

Despite his status, King Cold doesn’t really have any impressive accomplishments of his own. Future Trunks defeats him almost as quickly as he defeated Mecha Frieza. However, unlike Frieza, who Trunks had to completely destroy, King Cold is killed with just one energy blast to the heart. It’s also doubtful that King Cold can transform like Frieza. Frieza’s transformations, aside from his Golden and Black forms, actually limit his power because he struggles to control his full strength.

4. Froze is Stronger Than Haze Shenron & The Only Human to Become a Frost Demon

Froze is a character from Dragon Ball Heroes who transforms himself into a Frost Demon using special arcade machines made by Capsule Corp. He’s unique among Frost Demons (besides possibly Kuriza) because he isn’t inherently evil. While he respects Frieza’s power, Froze only uses his Frost Demon abilities to do good.

Froze, in his initial form, has a power level comparable to Frieza when he was on Namek. However, after a power-up (Class-Up Froze), he becomes as strong as Haze Shenron from Dragon Ball GT, making him significantly more powerful than most Frost Demons. Further boosting to Super Class-Up allows him to fight against Super Saiyan 4 Broly, though he isn’t strong enough to actually cause Broly any harm. As is typical with characters from Dragon Ball Heroes, Froze is much stronger than his appearance suggests.

3. Cooler’s Final Form Was Much Stronger Than Frieza’s

Cooler isn’t part of the original Dragon Ball manga or Akira Toriyama’s established story, but he is considered canon within the Dragon Ball Z anime series. He’s Frieza’s older brother and is even more powerful, particularly when he transforms into his ultimate Fifth Form. In the movie Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler, Cooler becomes so strong that it takes a completely exhausted Super Saiyan Goku and Super Saiyan Vegeta just to barely defeat him.

Cooler becomes incredibly powerful in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, even reaching a Golden form that rivals Golden Frieza. Unlike Frieza, who is naturally gifted, Cooler has to work hard to increase his strength. He actually manages to exceed Frieza’s power for a short time in Dragon Ball Z through training. If Cooler is ever going to match Black Frieza’s level, it will likely depend on the Dragon Ball Super manga including him in the story, potentially during or after the events of the Black Frieza Saga.

2. Frost is One of the Strongest Fighters in Universe 6

I first encountered Frost as Universe 6’s version of Frieza, presented as a hero. It quickly became clear that this was mostly for show, a way to build up his public image. However, beneath the facade, he’s genuinely a remarkably strong fighter, arguably one of the most powerful Frost Demons to ever live. When he transforms into his Final Form, he’s stronger than almost anyone we saw at the end of Dragon Ball Z. It’s easy to underestimate him, though, because the power levels in Dragon Ball Super are so much higher.

During the Tournament of Power, Frost teams up with Frieza to take out other fighters. However, Frieza is only using Frost, making him exhaust himself so Frieza can easily defeat him later. Although Frost was briefly stronger than Frieza – Goku could fight base form Frieza, but needed Super Saiyan to fight Frost’s Final Form – Frieza ultimately planned to exploit Frost’s power.

1. Frieza is the Most Powerful Mortal in the Dragon Ball Universe

Frieza’s improvement as a fighter is unmatched in the Dragon Ball series. He rapidly gains power, becoming stronger than Super Saiyan Blue Goku after only four months of training in Resurrection ‘F’. After ten years of training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, he reaches a new level, Black Frieza, surpassing even the combined strength of Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta.

Goku and Vegeta are continuing to train, preparing for their next battle with Black Frieza, but they still haven’t reached his power level. Frieza is incredibly strong – he defeated Awakened Gas with a single blow! He’s so fast that even Goku, with his perfected Ultra Instinct, couldn’t react. Currently, Frieza is the most powerful being in the Dragon Ball universe, and he’s strong enough to defeat even the gods if he wanted to.
