Dragon Ball Super 2: Goku’s Greatest Rivals Are Finally Stronger Than Ultra Instinct

The Dragon Ball Super anime concluded with Goku achieving Ultra Instinct during the Tournament of Power, but the last episode showed he can’t activate it at will. In the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime, expected next year, Goku will focus on fully mastering Ultra Instinct so he can reliably use its perfected form whenever needed.

When Dragon Ball Super 2 begins, Goku will reach a new level of strength, but Vegeta and Piccolo will quickly match him. They’ll both achieve powerful new transformations that exceed his initial Ultra Instinct form, eventually reaching a level comparable to his Perfected Ultra Instinct – a form he’ll have difficulty mastering. By the time the series adapts the Super Hero saga, both Vegeta and Piccolo will possess the full power of Perfected Ultra Instinct, but in forms unique to themselves.

Orange Piccolo is On Par With Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku

In Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Piccolo uses the Dragon Balls to reach his full potential, resulting in his new Orange form. Evidence suggests this Orange Piccolo is as powerful as Goku in his Perfected Ultra Instinct form, and even stronger than Goku’s standard Ultra Instinct. This is supported by Piccolo stating that neither Goku nor Vegeta could defeat Cell Max, an enemy that only Gohan Beast was able to overcome.

As a Dragon Ball fan, I’m so hyped about Piccolo’s power-up! Seeing him there when Goku finally took down Moro with Perfected Ultra Instinct gave us a clear idea of just how strong Goku had become. And then Piccolo, in his Orange form, actually fought Cell Max! That means he’s surpassed even regular Ultra Instinct Goku. But the biggest confirmation came straight from Akira Toriyama himself – he said Piccolo is now ‘on par’ with Goku! So, by the end of the Super Hero Saga, Orange Piccolo is basically as strong as Goku when he’s using Perfected Ultra Instinct – it’s incredible!

Ultra Ego Has More Potential Than Ultra Instinct

In Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, Goku will initially become stronger than Vegeta by mastering Perfected Ultra Instinct. However, this lead won’t last. The following storyline focuses heavily on Vegeta’s training under Beerus, eventually leading him to unlock a new form called Ultra Ego. While Ultra Instinct is linked to the angels, Ultra Ego is a transformation inspired by the Gods of Destruction.

Vegeta’s Ultra Ego gets stronger as he battles and receives damage. It’s suggested that Ultra Ego Vegeta is as powerful as, or even a little stronger than, Goku in his Perfected Ultra Instinct form. Even before mastering it, Ultra Ego already matches the strength of Goku’s most powerful Ultra Instinct. Once Vegeta fully controls Ultra Ego, he’s almost certain to become more powerful than Goku. This is confirmed in the Super Hero Saga when Vegeta defeats Goku, establishing him as the stronger of the two Saiyans.

Goku is Quickly Being Outpaced By Other Fighters

The upcoming movie, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is expected to be the last time Goku holds the title of strongest being in Universe 7. After his fight with Moro, several characters will become more powerful than him. Specifically, once the anime covers the ‘Granolah the Survivor’ storyline, both Granolah and Gas will surpass Goku, gaining huge power increases from Toronbo, the Eternal Dragon. Even with Goku mastering True Ultra Instinct, he won’t be able to defeat either of them.

The upcoming Granolah the Survivor Saga will feature a new, incredibly powerful form for Frieza – Black Frieza – that’s strong enough to defeat even Goku in his True Ultra Instinct and Vegeta in his Ultra Ego with a single blow. Building on the power-ups from Super Hero, like Piccolo achieving a form comparable to Ultra Instinct and Gohan becoming the even stronger “Gohan Beast”, Gohan is predicted to surpass Goku entirely. The events following Super Hero will be incorporated into Dragon Ball Super 2 to set the stage for the Black Frieza Saga, ultimately leading to a battle where Gohan defeats Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku.

Broly has already proven he’s stronger than Super Saiyan Blue Goku in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and he’ll likely become even more powerful than Perfected Ultra Instinct once he masters his Legendary Super Saiyan form. The next Dragon Ball Super storyline, starting with The Galactic Patrol anime, will initially show Goku as the strongest character, but he’ll quickly be challenged. Characters like Granolah, Gas, Vegeta, Frieza, Piccolo, Broly, and Gohan will either reach his level or become even stronger than him.
