Dragon Ball Super 2 Will Officially Prove Vegeta is Better Than Goku & More Talented

I’ve always noticed that Vegeta seemed to have a natural advantage over Goku in Dragon Ball. Even when they were kids, Goku’s power level was pretty low, barely over 100, while Vegeta was already surpassing his own father, King Vegeta. When they finally fought as adults, Vegeta’s base power was significantly higher – around 10,000 points higher than Goku’s, and that’s without Goku using Kaioken. Even with Kaioken maxed out, Goku couldn’t beat him. Vegeta had so much energy to spare that he transformed into a Great Ape, fought Gohan afterward, and even withstood a Spirit Bomb – all without being completely drained.

I’ve noticed in Dragon Ball Super that the series seems to be really emphasizing Vegeta’s natural talent over Goku’s. While Goku needed a special ritual to become a Super Saiyan God, Vegeta achieved it through sheer hard work and training. And it looks like the new Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime is going to really solidify that idea, showing Vegeta mastering a technique everyone believed was exclusive to Goku, proving he’s the most gifted Saiyan out there.

Vegeta Learns a Technique Goku Trained a Full Year to Master in a Matter of Minutes

Following his battle with Frieza in Dragon Ball Z, Goku used a spaceship from the Ginyu Force – already set to travel to Planet Yardrat – to leave Namek. There, he spent a year mastering Spirit Control, ultimately learning the Instant Transmission technique. Later, in the Dragon Ball Super manga, Vegeta visits Yardrat during the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga to train with Goku’s mentor, Pybara, hoping to learn a Spirit-based ability that will aid him in defeating Moro.

Pybara explains to Vegeta that it took Goku 150 days to get his spirit under control and learn Instant Transmission. Although Vegeta has trouble at first, he quickly progresses much faster than Goku did while training on Yardrat. Vegeta not only learns Forced Spirit Fission – a powerful ability to separate fused fighters, transfer energy, and undo absorptions – but he also masters Instant Transmission in just a few minutes.

When Vegeta realizes he won’t reach Goku in time to battle Moro, he asks Pybara to quickly teach him Instant Transmission. Although Vegeta had been focusing on a different technique, Forced Spirit Fission, he grasped the underlying principles of energy control quickly enough to master Instant Transmission and teleport to Goku just as Moro attacks. It’s remarkable considering it took Goku a full year to learn, while Vegeta managed it in just minutes, proving his superior Saiyan talent.

Vegeta is a Prodigy Born of Hard Work

In the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super, Pybara praises Vegeta as a “prodigy,” emphasizing that his skill comes from dedication and hard work. Previously, Dragon Ball Z highlighted Goku’s strategic training versus Vegeta’s sheer effort. However, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol seems poised to finally acknowledge Vegeta’s perseverance. After years of being overshadowed by Goku, Vegeta is taking a different approach. While Goku chases immense power and perfects Ultra Instinct, Vegeta is focusing on fundamental training and self-improvement, demonstrated by his willingness to seek out a teacher during the Moro Saga – a clear sign of his growth.

Vegeta is still training relentlessly, but he’s now focusing on learning from those stronger than himself. During the Granolah the Survivor Saga, he becomes Beerus’ student, receiving a special earring that helps him absorb Beerus’ power. This willingness to learn and acknowledge others’ strength is key to unlocking his new Ultra Ego transformation, finally bringing him to the same power level as Goku. By the Super Hero Saga, Vegeta will master meditation, defeat Goku in battle, and establish himself as the strongest Saiyan, definitively surpassing his long-time rival.
