Paralives is now available in Early Access! It shares some similarities with other life simulation games, which should make it easy for experienced players to pick up. However, because it’s still in development, many features aren’t finished yet, so taking care of your characters (Paras) can be a bit tricky at times.
Babies and toddlers naturally need help from family to get what they need. It can be challenging because communicating with them to understand and meet those needs doesn’t always feel easy or efficient.
Caring for Babies in Paralives

Okay, so as a long-time player, I’ve noticed babies are actually easier to handle than toddlers! The cool thing is, you can usually take care of everything they need just by clicking on them and letting an older Para help out. When I click on a baby, I get a bunch of options to appear, letting me quickly address whatever they need.
- Pick up
- Bottle Feed (Hunger)
- Cuddle (Love)
- Rock Baby (Love)
- Breastfeed (Hunger)
- Burp Baby
- Play Baby Plane (Love)
- Talk to Baby (Love)
These features cover most needs, but don’t directly handle sleep or personal hygiene. To put the baby to sleep, you first need to pick them up and then interact with the crib, which allows you to place them inside. You can’t do anything with the crib unless you’re holding the baby. Once the baby is in the crib, they can fall asleep on their own, like by shaking a rattle.
To keep your baby clean and comfortable, pay attention to when they need a diaper change. You’ll know it’s time because a green cloud will appear around them, letting you know a change is needed to improve their hygiene.
Caring for Toddlers in Paralives
Toddlers are much more independent than babies. They can start using a potty chair on their own, though they might still need a diaper sometimes, which you’ll need to change. They can also go to bed by themselves. While toddlers are becoming more self-sufficient, they still need help with things like getting affection, staying clean, and being fed.
To build a strong bond with your toddler, spend quality time with them just like any other caregiver. Simply talking and being present with their family is enough to help them feel loved and secure.

Okay, so taking care of toddlers in Paralives is a little different than in The Sims. In The Sims, you could just click on a high chair or tub and start feeding or bathing them right away. But in Paralives, you actually have to pick up your little Sim first! Once they’re in your arms, then you can set them down at the high chair to feed them, or take them over to the tub for a bath. It’s a small change, but it feels more realistic, you know?
Since the game is still in development, I expect a few rough edges and extra steps here and there. I’m looking forward to future updates that hopefully simplify taking care of babies and toddlers in Paralives.
