Bulma And Goku Are The Most Important In The First Arc
Arc: Goku Saga
The story of Dragon Ball mainly follows Goku, and the first major story arc is even named after him. However, Bulma is just as crucial, maybe even more so, because her wish for a boyfriend is what kicks off the entire adventure to collect the Dragon Balls. While Goku is the main character, he was perfectly happy living a simple life in the mountains with one of the Dragon Balls until Bulma showed up and changed everything.
Mercenary Tao Was Goku’s First Major Enemy

Throughout the Dragon Ball series, Goku has battled countless opponents and rivals. Future Trunks Went Back In Time To Stop A Threat
Arc: Android Saga
The Android Saga is a highlight of the whole story, and it all happened thanks to Future Trunks. While not the most powerful fighter, he made sure Goku got the medicine he needed for his heart condition. This single act changed the future and completely altered the course of events involving the Androids and Cell.
Gohan Unlocked A Power Even Greater Than Super Saiyan
Arc: Cell Saga
The Android Saga culminated in the appearance of Perfect Cell, who was, up to that point, the strongest character in the series. He surpassed even Goku’s power, and Goku realized this. That’s why he focused on training his son, Gohan, believing Gohan was the only one capable of defeating Cell. Ultimately, Goku’s belief proved true when Gohan achieved Super Saiyan 2 and finally destroyed the villain.
Goku Once Again Put A Stop To A Major Villain
Arc: Buu Saga
The Buu Saga marked a turning point for the series, pushing power levels to an all-time high. Goku once again took center stage, using his incredible strength and skills to defeat the terrifying Kid Buu. The final moments of their epic battle highlighted what makes Goku such a unique hero, especially with Vegeta’s powerful speech, solidifying Goku’s place as the saga’s greatest champion.
Beerus Awoke To Fight A Legendary Opponent
Arc: God of Destruction Beerus Saga
As a long-time fan, it was so exciting when Beerus finally woke up! He had a vision of someone who could actually challenge him, and that’s what kicked off his incredible arc. Sure, he started as a pretty scary villain and initially beat our heroes, but honestly, that arc completely changed things! He became this amazing benchmark for Goku and Vegeta, always pushing them to get stronger. Over time, he evolved into this awesome ally and mentor – someone they constantly measure themselves against. He’s become absolutely invaluable to their growth in Dragon Ball Super and I love seeing their dynamic!
Frieza Returned Stronger Than Ever
Arc: Resurrection F Arc
When the Dragon Balls brought Frieza back to life, he immediately resumed his rivalry with Goku and Vegeta, fueled by a desire for revenge. But he quickly realized they’d gotten much stronger, so he actually started training – something he’d never done before! This training unlocked his ‘Golden Frieza’ form, making him incredibly powerful, and it also secured his place as a major threat in Dragon Ball Super, putting him on a similar power level to Super Saiyan Blue.
