Max Hejtmánek, who used to translate from Czech to English for the game developer Warhorse Studios (known for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2), says he was let go and his job is now being done by artificial intelligence.
According to a post on the game’s Reddit page, developer Hejtmánek was informed that his job will be eliminated next month. The RPG team will now be using AI for all translations, reportedly to improve efficiency and cut costs.
Mr. Hejtmánek had previously expressed worries about the studio’s use of artificial intelligence, but he didn’t anticipate it would lead to his departure. He stated he felt deeply betrayed by the company’s management, especially after being dedicated to it for nearly four years, and was saddened by the thought of no longer seeing his workplace friends and colleagues daily.
Hejtmánek reportedly didn’t see his firing coming. Although Warhorse Studios hasn’t announced its next game, he was still actively working and had expected to continue. He described being laid off at the end of a typical workday, completely unaware it was going to happen.
Hejtmánek contributed to various aspects of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, including dialogue, quest details, item descriptions, and promotional content for the game and its expansions. Reddit moderators confirmed his identity and the source of his post, and his LinkedIn profile now shows he’s no longer employed by Warhorse Studios.
