As a huge Final Fantasy 14 fan, I was so excited to watch the latest Letter from the Producer LIVE! They finally dropped the trailer for Patch 7.5, and it looks amazing. We got a much closer look at what’s coming in the main story, plus details about the new Beastmaster job – it’s going to be so cool! This was the second part of their coverage for this big update, and I’m already counting down the days!
The next major update for Final Fantasy XIV, called “Trail to the Heavens” (Patch 7.5), will be the final big addition to the Dawntrail expansion. This update is being released in stages: Patch 7.5 arrives on April 28th, followed by 7.51 in early June, 7.55 in late July, and 7.56 in early September.
Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail Patch 7.5 Live Letter Breakdown
I’m so hyped for Patch 7.5 in Final Fantasy 14! They just did a Live Letter and showed off a trailer with a ton of new details. We’re going back to some Endwalker areas like Garlemald and Mare Lamentorum, and it looks like we’ll be dealing with Voidsent again. The story is teasing a confrontation with Halmarut, that intriguing Ascian we met in 7.4. And get this – we’re going to see Jullus, Zero, and even Golbez again! They haven’t been around since the story after Endwalker, so it’ll be great to catch up with them. The main story is being released in two parts, with the first coming in 7.5 and the second in 7.56.
Okay, so I just watched the trailer, and it sounds like Jonathan Bailey is still the voice of G’raha Tia! That’s awesome – it looks like they didn’t recast him in Final Fantasy 14, which is a huge relief. I really loved his performance, so I’m super happy to hear that!
During a recent presentation, Final Fantasy 14 explained how the new Beastmaster job will work. Players will be able to tag creatures they want to capture while exploring the game world using a skill called ‘Catch’. The lower a creature’s health, the easier it will be to capture when defeated. Beastmasters can have up to three creatures equipped, but can only summon one at a time. Players will be able to capture around 50 different beasts, including Coeurls, Dodos, Behemoths, and a cute, horned dog-like creature.
During battles, players switch between their beasts, using their powers through a feature called Nature’s Gift, and directly control them with special moves like Tempered Releases, Tricks, and Finishers. Outside of battle, in sanctuaries, players can have their beasts accompany them. Each beast has a unique element, and players can maximize damage by quickly swapping between beasts with different elements to create powerful Instinctual Combos, adding a strategic element to team building and ability choices.
We don’t know for sure when the Beastmaster will be released, but it won’t be included in the update coming on April 28th.
Patch 7.5 will include much more content than what’s been shown so far. You can watch the full broadcast recording to see gameplay from the new Windhurst raid and Archeia Harmonias arena. Plus, we’re adding several improvements to make the game easier and more enjoyable, like simpler notifications for the Sightseeing Log, the ability to use dungeon gear for glamour, a more convenient crafting log, and fun reactions from your Chocobo companion when you pet or poke it.

One remaining question about the upcoming 7.5 update is the new Ultimate raid. A hint in the trailer suggested that Kefka, the villain from Final Fantasy 6, will be central to it. Players will get definitive answers—and learn about the next expansion—at the first Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival on April 24th.
