GOG Now Supports The South African Rand With Regional Pricing Added Too

GOG now supports the South African Rand (ZAR) for purchases, meaning players in South Africa can buy games directly in their local currency without needing to convert to other currencies like pounds, euros, or dollars.

We’ve adjusted game prices for players in South Africa to better reflect local costs and align with prices in other regions. This should make new game releases more fairly priced.

The updates are now live in the store. If you don’t see them, please check that your currency is set to ZAR instead of USD – you can find this setting at the bottom of the store page.

Okay, so I was checking out the prices in the store, and they seem really good at first. What’s really cool is that buying things in South African Rand (ZAR) is way cheaper than paying in US dollars (USD). Like, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is $9, but only R96. I quickly checked the exchange rate, and right now, if I bought that same game in USD it would actually cost around R140. So yeah, definitely paying in ZAR is the way to go!

I just discovered GOG, and it’s awesome! Basically, when you buy games there, you actually own them. Everything is DRM-free, which means you don’t need to be online to play – you just buy and download the game files directly to your computer. It’s so cool to be able to play without any annoying restrictions!
