Google Pulls The Plug on Fitbit App, Replaces it With Google Health

Google is discontinuing the Fitbit app and moving its features to a new app called Google Health. This change will happen on May 19, 2026, but Google promises all your Fitbit data will be safely transferred to the new app, so you won’t lose any information.

According to Digital Trends, Google is phasing out the Fitbit brand and integrating its features into a new platform called Google Health. Don’t worry, Google assures users that existing Fitbit devices will continue to work and all your health data and workout history will be transferred to the Google Health app.

Google will continue to support Fitbit devices, meaning they’ll remain available and functional for the time being. While Google hasn’t announced any changes for existing Fitbit Premium members regarding a potential upgrade to Google Health Premium, the monthly price will stay at $9.99. However, the annual subscription cost is increasing from $79 to $99.

Google Health is getting some useful updates! Soon, you’ll be able to easily track things like food, exercise, and other health data in a few different ways: by typing, speaking, or simply taking a picture with your phone. The app will use artificial intelligence to identify what’s in the photo and automatically record the information. Plus, people in the US can now upload their medical records to the app. A new feature called Google Health Coach – building on the old Fitbit Personal Health Coach – will be available to answer your health questions and provide personalized guidance.

Google Health is expanding to connect with popular apps like Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and Peloton. This will create a central hub for tracking all your health and fitness information. It’s a significant improvement over Fitbit, offering users a more comprehensive way to monitor their activity, nutrition, and overall well-being in a single app.

Google recently made a change to its search engine that lets people remove their personal information and photos from search results.
