Neverness to Everness, or NTE, is a free-to-play open-world action RPG created by Hotta Studio, the developers of Tower of Fantasy. It launched on April 29th and combines fast-paced anime-inspired combat with a supernatural story, city exploration, driving, and elements of life simulation.
Set in the imaginative city of Hethereau—a bustling, modern place where unusual paranormal occurrences, known as Anomalies, are commonplace—NTE is a gacha game that offers a fresh take on the familiar formula. Neverness to Everness doesn’t just play the gacha system; it reimagines it, creating exciting new possibilities and potentially shaping the future of the genre.
The Removal Of The 50/50 System
Obtaining More From The Gacha System
A major reason players are excited about Neverness to Everness isn’t just its anime-inspired open world or fast-paced driving; it’s the innovative gacha system and how it will shape the game’s future. Typically, even with guaranteed pity systems in gacha games, you only have a 50% chance of getting the specific character you want. This often leads to players spending more than planned to finally get what they’re after. Neverness to Everness eliminates this frustration. The game guarantees you’ll get a character within 90 pulls, and featured characters are guaranteed, no matter what.
This game features a board similar to Monopoly. Players use in-game currency as dice rolls to move around the board and claim rewards based on where they land. Each roll can award one to five standard pulls, letting you continue playing and increase your potential rewards. The board also includes special spaces that offer unique prizes like cosmetic items, more pull currency, or limited-edition weapons from Neverness to Everness.
Pity Carryover For Characters And Cosmetics
Recording Progress Even On Reruns
The “Pity Carryover” system in Neverness to Everness is really helpful. If you don’t get the character you want during a limited-time banner, the game remembers how many attempts you made. Then, when the next banner arrives, it takes those previous attempts into account, meaning you’ll need fewer pulls to guarantee getting the new character.
The same principle applies to collectible cosmetic items. In Neverness to Everness, spending 50, 120, or 200 pulls will unlock unique character-themed cosmetics and decals. While this might seem like a lot to new players, Neverness to Everness remembers how many pulls you’ve spent on each banner. When that banner returns, you can pick up right where you left off, making your pulls more valuable over time.

Player Agency, In My Gacha Game?
This raises an interesting question: why continue pulling on a character banner after you’ve already gotten the character? Neverness to Everness does something no other gacha game does: it lets you switch which special abilities (similar to Mindscapes or Constellations in other games) are active. NTE gives players complete control over customizing their characters. You can easily change abilities, and having multiple duplicates makes this even easier. This encourages players to spend their in-game currency freely, as they can invest in their favorite characters and fine-tune their builds to make them even stronger.
I’ve learned that the game does give you some bonuses if you get three copies of a character or fully upgrade six of them. But honestly, these bonuses aren’t that big of a deal. Most players, like me, won’t really need them to make any of the 16 characters strong enough to play well – they’re mostly for players who spend a lot of money on the game.
Standard Banner Weapons Are Free In The Overworld
What Gacha Game Even Does That?
A standout feature of Neveress to Everess is how players acquire powerful weapons. Every character you unlock without paying, and all characters available on the Standard Banner, has a unique weapon—called an Arc—that can be found simply by exploring the game world. Players can discover these Arcs by venturing into special areas called anomaly zones and defeating the boss in each one, making them readily available for their main character and Standard Banner characters to use.
The Neverness to Everness update is very generous to players. You can get the S-Class Hunter you want after just 50 pulls on the Standard Banner with a discount – it only costs 40 Standard Dice, and you’ll also receive a free S-Class Selector to choose another Agent. Plus, with an additional 10 pulls coming when Hotori releases, you’ll have plenty of resources to use now or save for future characters you like.
The new weapon banner introduces Tri-Keys, a special currency used to try for limited-time weapon systems. You can only use 10 Tri-Keys per attempt, so players need to carefully consider each pull. You can earn free Tri-Keys by increasing your Hunter Rank and Tycoon level through account rewards. You can also buy more with Fons (the in-game currency) at the Hunter Exchange once you reach certain levels. If you really want a specific weapon, you can use Annaluth (premium currency) to buy the Tri-Keys you need.

Finally, what makes Neveress to Everness truly special is the introduction of the character Chiz at the Tycoon level. Chiz is currently considered a top-tier damage dealer, becoming effective as early as Tycoon Level 18 – a point all players will reach through normal gameplay. As players progress, they can fully upgrade Chiz and her weapon simply by leveling up their Tycoon Level, earning duplicates along the way. This means Neveress to Everness players can enjoy having up to three powerful, limited characters right from the beginning, if they’re willing to invest the time to collect the necessary weapon pieces – all without spending any money.
Unlike many games with gacha systems, Neverness to Everness gives players a lot of control over what they try to unlock. It also provides a generous number of free pulls just by playing, and even enough to get all the characters and their skins currently available. You can earn skins through luck, building relationships with characters, or by purchasing them directly. Combined with its unique story and engaging, slice-of-life narrative, Neverness to Everness offers a fun and accessible experience for everyone!
