As you might expect in Windrose, the most profitable activity is piracy. Stealing from other players’ ships is a great way to earn valuable items and currency. To maximize your earnings, focus on building a strong fleet. Piastre, the game’s main currency, can be used to buy everything from crafting recipes and raw materials to new equipment for your pirate and better ship designs. If you want to progress and acquire more resources, clearing the seas of rival pirates is the key.
How to Farm Money in Windrose
Defeating pirate ships usually gets you Combat Repair Kits and Insignias, which improve your standing with other groups. Sometimes, pirates drop trade goods like Spirits or Provisions. You can sell these items at faction bases for a good profit.
If you’re looking to earn a lot of Piastre in Windrose, capturing enemy ships is more profitable than sinking them. To do this, you’ll need to equip Boarding Gear on your ship. The better your Boarding Gear, the more powerful your crew will be during boarding actions.
Look for ships with a chest icon above their name – these are the best ones to capture! Successfully boarding these ships will reward you with Piastre, Insignias, and extra trade goods. Keep in mind that tougher ships (with higher levels) will drop better loot. And when you’re battling ships in Windrose, targeting their rear will always result in a critical hit.
How to Board Enemy Ships in Windrose
After installing Boarding Gear on your ship, locate an enemy vessel with a chest icon visible on top – Blackbeard Haulers are a good place to start. Fire your cannons at them until a crosshair appears under their health bar. This indicates the ship is disabled and ready to be boarded. Simply move close to their side and press the Space bar to begin.
As you begin boarding, your crew will throw grappling hooks to pull you towards the enemy ship, and they’ll get ready for battle. When you’re close enough, you and your crew can jump across and fight the other pirates. If you defeat enough of them, you’ll successfully capture the ship’s cargo.
Remember, your boarding party members can be defeated. If everyone on your team dies, you’ll have to face the enemy ship’s crew by yourself. During a fight, try to eliminate as many pirates as possible to protect your crew. Luckily, you won’t need to hire replacements if you lose crewmates during a boarding action.
What About Guinea?
You can get the gold Guinea coins needed for building sets by trading with merchants. The Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner will trade you one Guinea for 50 Piastre.
Alternatively, you can remain on your ship and attack enemies from a distance with your cannons. For a great early-game rifle, complete the Glorious Hunters quest – it rewards you with the Buccaneer’s Friend Musket, which offers perfect accuracy when you’re stationary.
