Okay, so playing Saros, I’ve noticed a really annoying thing: Corruption. It’s one of those hazards you gotta deal with in the creepy world of Carcosa. As you explore more of the maps – especially the Eclipse sections – enemies start shooting these yellow projectiles at you along with the usual blue ones. Getting hit by the yellow stuff builds up Corruption on your character, Arjun, and it seriously hurts! It lowers his max health and makes it way harder to survive. I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of it, and this guide covers different ways to do just that. It even talks about when you might want to keep some Corruption around, which is kinda weird but potentially useful!
How to Cleanse Corruption in Saros
As you venture through the darkened areas of Carcosa, enemies will not only attack, but also fire yellow projectiles at Arjun. These are Corruption attacks that gradually lower his maximum health. The more you get hit, the more his health will decrease.
There are a few ways you can gradually remove Corruption from Arjun’s health bar in Saros.
‘Power Weapons’ Remove Corruption
Arjun’s Power Weapons are his most powerful attacks, dealing significant damage, applying strong status effects, and reducing his Corruption level. Activating a Power Weapon requires holding down both L2 and R2 buttons simultaneously. Each shot from a Power Weapon uses energy from Arjun’s Power meter and also removes a small amount of Corruption, which is impacting his maximum health in Saros.
You can rapidly recharge your power weapons by blocking and absorbing blue energy blasts with your Shield. Once you unlock the Shield Amplifier ability through the Armor Matrix, you can also do this with yellow Corruption energy blasts.
‘Parry’ Nova Particles to Cleanse Corruption
As you explore the Blighted Marsh – the fourth area in Saros – you’ll learn a new skill called Parry. Parry is useful for dealing with Nova projectiles (the red ones) which can’t be dodged or blocked with your shield. Successfully parrying these Nova particles will stun enemies and also reduce the amount of Corruption affecting Arjun.
Corruption isn’t just a threat in Saros – it can actually become a powerful asset for Arjun. As you progress, you’ll start finding Corrupted weapons that get stronger the more Corruption you’ve accumulated. If you’re skilled at avoiding damage, this system allows you to play a high-risk, high-reward ‘glass cannon’ style, dealing massive damage but being vulnerable to attacks.
