The Katana is quickly becoming a favorite weapon in Black Ops 7 Zombies. While players recently gained access to the 1911 pistol through the Mustang & Sally unlock, the Katana is now standing out thanks to its powerful stats, sleek design, and connection to the character Takeo. It feels incredibly satisfying to unlock and use.

In Black Ops 7 Zombies, the Katana is the strongest melee weapon that isn’t a special ‘wonder weapon’ (the Jotunn Star is still the best overall). If you’re looking to make the Katana your go-to melee choice, this guide will show you how.

Okay, so I’ve got until May 21st to snag the Katana by doing the Navigator Challenge event. After that, no worries, I can still get it! I just head to the Armory – it’s in the Career section, under Challenges. Easy peasy!

How to Unlock the Katana in Black Ops 7 Zombies

You can unlock the Katana weapon by finishing all seven challenges in the Call of Duty Endowment Navigator Challenge Event. These challenges are spread across different game modes like Endgame, Multiplayer, Warzone, and Zombies. Since many of you likely play Zombies, here’s a look at those specific challenges:

Challenge How to Complete Reward
Drink 15 Perk-a-Colas There are only 13 Perks, so you’ll have to either complete this across multiple games, or down yourself so you lose some, and you can drink them again. Orbital Emblem
Revive 5 Teammates Head into a game of Zombies and let your ally go down 5 times, and revive them 5 times. This can be spread out across multiple games, done with friends, or complete strangers in a public lobby. Countdown Calling Card
Open 10 Doors Paradox Junction will be the easiest map to complete this on, as it’s very small, and both the past version and future versions of Nuketown have around 6 doors that need to be opened, so you can complete it in just one game (although you don’t need to). Navigator Loading Screen
Use Healing Aura, Frenzied Guard, or Toxic Growth 20 times You need to use any of these three (or all three) Field Upgrades a total of 20 times. This can be made easier by using them as soon as you get them, or by spamming Power Keg and Arsenal Accelerator GobbleGums. Celestial Navigator Weapon Charm
Complete 3 T.E.D.D. Tasks T.E.D.D. Tasks spawn at random at the start of a new Round, so this is just a patience game of waiting for the T.E.D.D. Task to spawn, and accepting it, whether that’s across 3 games or 1. Mission Accomplished Emote
Survive 50 Rounds If you struggle in Zombies, then don’t worry, this challenge requires you to survive 50 Rounds in total, not in one game. Regardless, it might take 2 hours or more, unless you’re brave enough to use the Rampage Inducer. Battle Pass Token
Exfil 50,000 total Essence For this challenge, simply extract with Essence (points) left over. You can extract every 5 rounds from Round 11 onwards (Rounds ending in 1s and 6s). This is extremely easy to do in Cursed Mode with an Echo 12 Shotgun or Akita Shotgun, as you can point farm. Liftoff Camo

Okay, so I’ve been working on these challenges, and it’s awesome! Once I finish all seven, I’ll unlock the Katana as a melee weapon for my character, plus I’ll get a sweet 25,000 XP. Bummer though – it looks like we can’t get the Katana in Cursed Mode… at least not yet! Hopefully they’ll add that later.
