The anime series My Hero Academia ended on December 13, 2025, with its 170th and final episode, also titled “My Hero Academia,” available on Crunchyroll. With the conclusion of Izuku Midoriya’s story and that of the main heroes, a new generation’s journey officially began. Author Kohei Horikoshi hinted at this continuation in the series’ epilogue, suggesting a promising future where Izuku and the next generation of heroes will take the lead, following in the footsteps of legendary predecessors.
Given the popularity of its ending, it’s not surprising that My Hero Academia will continue beyond Season 8. The show aired its 171st and final episode on May 2, 2026, but an additional episode, “I Am A Hero Too,” is planned for release in Summer 2026. This new episode will focus on Eri’s development and reveal the updated official Hero rankings in Japan.
My Hero Academia Officially Confirms The Adaptation Of Eri One-Shot “I Am A Hero Too” For Summer 2026
Although many fans wished the main story of My Hero Academia had a slightly longer ending when it concluded in August 2024, creator Kohei Horikoshi surprised them with an extra chapter – Chapter 431 – included in the official volume 42 release in December 2024. This bonus chapter focused on Izuku Midoriya and Ochako Uraraka, and it officially marked the beginning of their romantic relationship.
Fans were surprised again by Kohei Horikoshi when he released a new one-shot story as part of the Ultra Artworks project, just as many thought the series had ended. This short story focused on Eri, but also included touching moments for Izuku Midoriya and other heroes from the original series.
I admire Deku and Lemillion a lot, but I want to prove myself and not just rely on their reputation. That’s why I’m going to work really hard! — Eri, My Hero Academia One-Shot Chapter
Fans of the original anime already knew Eri loved music, and the recent one-shot showed she’s been passionately pursuing it as a career. The world is currently peaceful, with no major villain groups causing trouble, and the Heroes are consistently working hard to maintain order. We also got a glimpse of Izuku Midoriya soaring through the air in new armor, demonstrating his incredible power. Now one of the nation’s leading Heroes after All Might’s retirement, Izuku Midoriya has stepped up to become the new Symbol of Peace.
The Newly Re-evaluated Hero Rankings In My Hero Academia Special Episode
The next episode of My Hero Academia, titled “I Am A Hero Too,” will reveal Japan’s updated Hero Rankings when it premieres on Crunchyroll in Summer 2026. The previous rankings showed Lemillion as number one, followed by Shoto Todoroki, Mount Lady, Kamui Woods, and Best Jeanist. Currently, Mirko holds the sixth spot and Nijire Hado is seventh, demonstrating the rise of new heroes alongside the continued strength of established veterans.
The current hero rankings will be replaced in the next anime episode, with a brand new list revealed for all of Japan. This new ranking will include popular characters like Izuku Midoriya and Bakugo Katsuki, and the episode will show who makes it into the top 5.
Lemillion holding on to number 1
- Shoto Todoroki at Number 2
- Mount Lady at Number 3
- Izuku Midoriya at Number 4
- Bakugou Katsuki at Number 5
The latest hero rankings are out, and there’s been a shake-up! One For All has soared to Number 4 with incredible buzz, and Dynamight is close behind, jumping to Number 5!
I’m seriously blown away by how quickly Deku’s climbed the Hero rankings! It’s amazing to see how far he’s come since getting back to work and officially becoming a Hero. And honestly, it’s fantastic to see Bakugo back in top form too. He was having a rough patch and dropped to number 15, but Deku’s rise seems to have really motivated him. They’re pushing each other again, and I have a feeling we’re going to see both of them reach incredible new levels soon!

How The Latest MHA Rankings Will Evolve In The Future
I’m totally fascinated by the Hero Billboard Chart in My Hero Academia! It’s always shifting, which is so cool, especially since a lot of the heroes are pretty evenly matched. I’m really excited to see how the rankings evolve as the story goes on – Kohei Horikoshi is keeping us guessing for now! Honestly, the way Deku shot up to Number 4 after getting back to hero work was incredible. I wouldn’t be shocked if he starts battling Todoroki and Lemillion for the top spot before long!
Bakugo is currently among the nation’s most powerful heroes, held back only by his temper. Now that he’s motivated to compete with Deku again, he’s likely to climb the Hero Rankings quickly. In the next ranking update, both Deku and Bakugo could surpass established heroes like Mount Lady and Todoroki, and even challenge Lemillion for the top spot. Ultimately, even the current top hero, Mirio Togata, may not be able to compete with Bakugo and Deku’s potential, and the rankings could shift in the coming months and years to reflect who is truly the strongest.
For My Hero Academia to continue, its creator, Kohei Horikoshi, would need to introduce new story elements. However, he’s currently focused on developing his next manga project, and has already started working on character designs and other preliminary materials. While Horikoshi is expected to return to Weekly Shonen Jump sometime in the coming months or years, he’s unlikely to revisit My Hero Academia unless a significant event or opportunity arises.
You can stream all 171 episodes of My Hero Academia on Crunchyroll, and read the complete manga series on Manga Plus.
