Hunter x Hunter: 7 Strongest Enhancers In The Series

As a longtime follower of Hunter x Hunter, I’ve learned that Nen, the power at the heart of the series, comes in six different varieties. The most frequently seen type is Enhancement, which basically lets a user boost their physical strength or toughen up their defenses with their Nen aura. Throughout the series, Yoshihiro Togashi has introduced quite a few characters who specialize in Enhancement, but a small number of them really stand out as the most powerful we’ve witnessed so far.

Phinks Magcub

Affiliation: Phantom Troupe

Phinks is the fifth member of the Phantom Troupe, and he’s incredibly strong. His Nen ability, Ripper Cyclotron, lets him multiply his already impressive strength by spinning his arm. Theoretically, he could keep increasing his power endlessly if he had enough time.

Even though it takes him a moment to get going, he can inflict significant damage. He’s certainly one of the most powerful Enhancers in the series, though he might not be quite as strong as some of the other spider-based Enhancers.

Dogman

Affiliation: Heil-Ly Family

Dogman is a character most people who only watch the anime version of Hunter x Hunter wouldn’t know. He first appears during the Succession Contest arc, where he works as the assistant to Morena Prudo, one of the arc’s main villains.

It’s amazing to see how everyone under Morena is affected by Contagion! It basically lets you get stronger, level up, and learn new skills – and Dogman is absolutely crushing it right now, currently at level 62! That really shows how powerful he’s become, because those levels aren’t easy to earn. His Nen ability is super cool too – he can track people using their scent and get a read on other Nen users. I’m really curious to see if he has even more offensive abilities up his sleeve, especially with the Succession Contest still going on!

Nobunaga Hazama

Affiliation: Phantom Troupe

The Phantom Troupe has a lot of members who are Enhancers, as Enhancement is the most common Nen type. It’s hard to say definitively who the strongest Enhancer in the group is, but Nobunaga has a lot of potential to become the most powerful one.

Nobunaga is currently proving to be a top-tier fighter within the Spiders. Skilled with a sword, he’s demonstrated impressive techniques like his Iaidō field, but hasn’t fully revealed his capabilities yet. Unlike other Enhancers in the Phantom Troupe, his Nen abilities are still unknown, suggesting the author is saving his full power for a more important moment. Nobunaga is playing a significant role in the ongoing Succession Contest arc and looks likely to be involved in a major fight soon.

Uvogin

Affiliation: Phantom Troupe

Uvogin is a well-known member of the Phantom Troupe, also known as the Spiders. He was the first member Kurapika successfully defeated and killed. Uvogin was also the first Troupe member to truly unleash his full power in combat. His battle with Kurapika was incredibly impressive, demonstrating his immense strength and ability to enhance his physical capabilities.

Although his immense power was clear, Uvogin was actually at a disadvantage in this battle. As fans of Hunter x Hunter know, Kurapika has a built-in edge against the Phantom Troupe because of the limitations he placed on his own abilities. Despite losing to Kurapika, Uvogin is still considered one of the most powerful Enhancers, and the author, Togashi, has stated that Uvogin is a genius-level Enhancer.

Maha Zoldyck

Affiliation: Zoldyck Family

The Zoldyck family is filled with incredibly powerful members. While we know some of them well, like Killua, others remain largely unknown. Despite this, fans have a good sense of how strong certain family members are. Maha Zoldyck, Killua’s very distant ancestor, is an Enhancer, and even without seeing his full capabilities, it’s clear he’s exceptionally powerful.

Maha Zoldyck is an incredibly powerful fighter, potentially as strong as Isaac Netero. It’s known that they fought each other in the past, and while the outcome of that battle remains a mystery, it clearly demonstrates Maha’s immense strength.

Isaac Netero

Affiliation: Hunter Association

I’ve always been amazed by Isaac Netero. He’s a truly gifted nen user, and when it comes to Enhancement types, he’s practically in a league of his own. He spent years as Chairman of the Hunter Association, and honestly, his strength was unbelievable – we all saw just how powerful he was during the Chimera Ant arc.

During the Chimera Ant storyline, Netero battled the arc’s primary villain, Meruem. He was incredibly powerful, and his signature ability, the 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva, is considered the most impressive display of Nen seen in Hunter x Hunter. Years of dedicated training allowed Netero to become a master of Nen, and he is one of only two known masters of the Enhancement category.

Adult Gon

As a Hunter x Hunter fan, let me tell you, when we talk about Enhancers who could possibly reach Isaac Netero’s level, Adult Gon is definitely up there! Now, regular Gon is strong, no doubt, but he wouldn’t quite be in the top tier of Enhancers. It’s when he… well, changes that he becomes a real contender.

When Gon gave up his nen and risked his life to defeat Neferpitou, he transformed into his adult form, granting him the power to defeat the strongest of the Royal Guards. Pitou was even more concerned for the King when she saw Adult Gon than she had been when facing Isaac Netero, demonstrating just how powerful Adult Gon had become. He represents the peak of the Enhancement nen category, and is only the second Enhancer, after Netero, to be considered a Nen Master.
