Is the ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’ Manga Ending? Volume 32 Rumors Explained

Kadokawa’s Dengeki Online website mistakenly announced on Tuesday that the manga adaptation of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime would conclude with its 32nd volume, scheduled for release on June 9th. Dengeki Online has since corrected this information, issuing an apology and explaining how the error happened.

The 32nd volume of the That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime manga will include extra materials, like a booklet featuring chapter 133, titled “The Daemon’s Whispers.” The anime’s third season covered up to chapter 110, and the current fourth season is expected to adapt chapter 133, which was originally released in volume 31 back in February.

About That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

I recently started reading a fascinating fantasy series called That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime. The story follows a Japanese man who tragically dies and finds himself reborn as… well, a slime, in a completely new world filled with magic and dragons! This slime, who goes by Rimuru Tempest, is surprisingly powerful – he can absorb anything and gain its abilities. Plus, he’s a smooth talker! Through his abilities and charm, he quickly gathers a diverse group of allies, even befriending a really strong storm dragon named Veldora, who becomes a key figure in the region they build together, Tempest. The manga version started appearing in Monthly Shōnen Sirius back in March 2015 and has become so popular it’s already led to seven different spin-off series.

The popular manga by Kawakami was adapted into an animated TV series by Studio 8bit, which began airing in October 2018 and is now in its fourth season. The series has also spawned two movies, with the first released in November 2022 and the latest, That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime: Tears of the Azure Sea, premiering in February. This movie will be shown in theaters across the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Ireland starting May 1st, and will be available with either English subtitles or dubbed in English.

Critical Reception of That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime

Originally published online by Fuse from 2013 to 2016, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime quickly gained popularity, amassing 400 million views on the Japanese website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The series, in both light novel and manga form, received recognition through awards: it won the BookWalker Award in 2018, was a nominee for the 2021 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category, and ultimately won the award in that same category in 2022.

The light novel That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime was first published in print by Micro Magazine in 2014, featuring illustrations by Mitz Vah. The main story concluded with its 23rd volume in November 2025, but new side stories are planned for release later this year. Yen Press publishes the English version of the series, and the 29th volume was released in late March.
