Xbox Game Pass members should be aware that five popular games will be removed from the service on May 31st. While Microsoft consistently adds new games to Game Pass, they also regularly take some away.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers recently lost access to five games: Galacticare, Go Mecha Ball, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo, PAW Patrol Rescue Wheels: Championship, and Planet of Lana. While those removals were disappointing, the games leaving on May 31st are expected to be an even bigger loss for subscribers.

Xbox Game Pass is losing five games on May 31st: Against the Storm, Crypt Custodian, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Persona 4 Golden, and Spray Paint Simulator. Against the Storm, a city-building roguelike, received a strong score of 89 on OpenCritic. Crypt Custodian, an 83-rated top-down adventure, plays like a *Zeldastyle Metroidvania. Despite these good ratings, even higher-rated games are also being removed from the service.

The JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio received significant praise in 2024, including nominations for Game of the Year at The Game Awards and wins for Best Narrative and Best Art Direction. It boasts a fantastic score of 93 on OpenCritic. Another popular JRPG from Atlus, Persona 4 Golden, is also highly regarded, earning a score of 88.
With a rating of 71, Spray Paint Simulator is the lowest-rated game leaving Xbox Game Pass on May 31st. However, it has a dedicated fanbase, and if you enjoy relaxing games like PowerWash Simulator, you might like it. Time is running out to play it through Game Pass, but you can try it out before you buy – just like with the other games departing on May 31st. As always, Xbox Game Pass subscribers get a 20% discount on these games, so you can keep playing them even after they’re removed from the service if you choose.
It’s a shame to see five games leaving Xbox Game Pass, but there’s good news: several new titles are on the way. We already know some of the games coming in June 2026, including Final Fantasy 6, which should help replace Metaphor and Persona 4 Golden. While Final Fantasy 6 might be shorter than those games, it’s a classic considered one of the greatest of all time and will add a strong Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) option to the Game Pass library.
