Get ready for a new game reveal at The Game Awards! Wildflower Interactive, a studio created by Bruce Straley – the co-creator of The Last of Us – will be showing off its first game during the show. Host Geoff Keighley and the studio shared a quick teaser video on social media to announce the news.
Neil Straley, studio lead at Wildflower Interactive, is a veteran game developer with a long history at Naughty Dog. He co-created The Last of Us with Neil Druckmann and directed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. He started at Naughty Dog as an artist on games like Crash Team Racing and the Jak and Daxter series. Before that, he worked as an artist for the Gex series at Crystal Dynamics. In 2022, after 17 years at Naughty Dog, Straley announced the creation of Wildflower Interactive, a studio built on fully remote work and a commitment to being inclusive, equitable, and collaborative.
Bruce Straley’s Latest Project Will Be Revealed at The Game Awards
After contributing to a highly acclaimed PlayStation game years ago, Bruce Straley’s new studio, Wildflower Interactive, is finally ready to share its first project. The game will be revealed at The Game Awards 2025. A short teaser video posted by The Game Awards host, Geoff Keighley, offers a glimpse of the game: a beautifully animated forest scene with a bird on a wooden sign. The video also includes ambient sounds of nature and a brief, muffled voice encouraging someone forward as the bird takes flight.
The trailer ended with the logos for Wildflower Interactive and The Game Awards. While the 30-second teaser didn’t reveal the name or type of Wildflower Interactive’s first game, it left viewers speculating. The Game Awards 2025 will be streamed on platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok on Thursday, December 11th, starting at 7:30 PM Eastern with a 30-minute pre-show. The main ceremony will follow shortly after, and fans will need to watch live to find out when Wildflower Interactive’s game will be showcased.
Wildflower Interactive Joins a Loaded TGA Schedule
The Game Awards will not only announce winners in categories like Game of the Year and Best Performance, but also showcase a variety of new game trailers and announcements. We’ll see more in-depth looks at previously announced titles like Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem and Sony’s Saros. The show will also reveal Wildflower Interactive’s first game, as well as completely new titles. Following a recent teaser from Wildflower Interactive, fans of the studio’s lead developer expressed excitement about tuning in, though some felt the teaser would have been more impactful if saved for the live show.
Last year, Naughty Dog, the studio behind many award-winning games, ended The Game Awards by announcing Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, their first completely new game in over ten years. While the initial trailer for Intergalactic received a varied response, Naughty Dog hasn’t announced a release date for the PS5 title. It’s unclear whether we’ll see Intergalactic again at next year’s Game Awards, or if Sony and Naughty Dog have other strategies to maintain fan excitement.
