TT Games announced that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is finished with development and ready for release. Unlike previous LEGO Batman games, this title doesn’t retell a specific story from comics or films, but instead features a brand new adventure for the hero. The developers created it as a tribute to Batman’s long and varied history across comics, movies, TV, and video games.
The new LEGO game clearly takes inspiration from various sources, like the character designs in Batman Returns. It also borrows combat elements from the Arkham series, but adapted to be fun for players of all ages. Fans who’ve been waiting for another game after Arkham Knight might find this a satisfying experience.

This is the first new LEGO game from TT Games since LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga came out in 2022. Unlike that game, which had a huge number of characters you could play as, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight features a smaller roster. The developers specifically wanted each character to feel different and special – something that wasn’t always true in earlier LEGO games. Often, playable characters in past LEGO titles felt too similar, so players didn’t bother trying them all. By focusing on fewer characters, LEGO Batman aims to give popular heroes like Batman, Robin, and Catwoman each a unique way to play.
Although you won’t be able to play as a huge number of different characters, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will feature a wide variety of Batman costumes. This includes his most recent look, the Absolute suit, as well as classic outfits from throughout the years – even one inspired by the suit Adam West wore! It looks like the developers at TT Games are pulling from Batman’s entire history, which should please longtime fans with plenty of options to unlock.

Batman consistently appears in some of the highest-rated superhero video games. The Arkham series and the original LEGO Batman titles are particularly well-regarded, giving Batman a strong reputation in gaming. It’s yet to be seen if the new LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will reach the same level of quality, but fans won’t have to wait long to find out when it releases soon.
