The team behind the new LEGO Batman game, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, has revealed a preview of the Batcave. Players will be able to visit the Batcave to view all the collectibles they’ve earned throughout the game.
Within the Batman stories, the Batcave is Batman’s secret base of operations and the headquarters for his partners. As the name suggests, it’s a cave system under Wayne Manor, naturally inhabited by bats. While the Batcave has been shown differently over time—like in the Batman: Arkham video games—certain things always remain consistent. These include a collection of Batman’s costumes and tools, the powerful Batcomputer, and a garage to house the Batmobile and other vehicles. You can expect to see these elements in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight as well.
LEGO Batman’s New Batcave Will Grow Alongside The Dark Knight Himself
Before the release of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on May 22nd, TT Games gave fans a preview of the new Batcave. In a video narrated by Jonathan Smith, a lead developer at TT Games, players got to see how the Batcave will work. This version of the Batcave will be a central hub where players can build and expand it using LEGO bricks. As the story progresses, players will unlock deeper areas of the Batcave, allowing Batman to collect Batsuits, Batmobiles, and other gear. Players will also be able to upgrade Batman’s classic gadgets, like Batarangs and Explosive Gel.
In the game, players can collect different Batsuits inspired by Batman’s appearances in comics, TV, movies, and other games. One of these suits is based on the “Absolute Batman” version, which reimagines Batman as a hardened crime fighter who started as a civil engineer, not a wealthy heir. Alongside Absolute Batman, players can also unlock the Absolute Catwoman suit, both drawn from Scott Snyder’s Absolute Universe series.
The Batcave Contains Plenty of Callbacks for Batman Fans to Enjoy
The Batcomputer will act as a helpful guide for players of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, offering information as they play. It will include character profiles and case files. Players can also customize the Batcave by displaying trophies and adding fun details like a personal gym, giving Batman’s headquarters a unique look.
