Naruto Franchise’s Strongest Mangekyo Sharingan Is Set To Get An Official Upgrade

In the world of Naruto, creator Masashi Kishimoto developed a fascinating power system centered around something called Chakra. Chakra allows for a wide range of abilities, including powerful visual techniques known as Dojutsu. Of all the Dojutsu Kishimoto has created, the Mangekyo Sharingan, unique to the Uchiha Clan, is a fan favorite. It first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 46 on October 28, 2002, and Kishimoto has continued to expand on its powers and variations ever since.

With the ongoing story of Naruto in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the series’ power levels are constantly growing. The author is now planning to further enhance the most powerful Mangekyo Sharingan – Sarada Uchiha’s, which possesses the Ohirume ability – in the next arc focusing on the character Hidari.

Boruto’s Mamushi Arc Officially Showed Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan Limitations

Sarada Uchiha is a main character in the Boruto series, which continues the story of Naruto. As Sasuke’s daughter, she inherited the powerful Sharingan, and later developed it into the even stronger Mangekyo Sharingan. This advanced form of the Sharingan was officially revealed in chapter 21 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, published in V-Jump magazine in 2025, and it’s considered one of the most formidable visual powers in the series.

She’s still alive and doesn’t seem to be critically hurt, but I’m concerned about how much the Mangekyo Sharingan has affected her eyesight. — Boruto Uzumaki, Two Blue Vortex Chapter 33

Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan gives her the ability, Ohirume, to generate up to four incredibly powerful black holes. She has complete control over these black holes, deciding how much force they use to pull in and ultimately crush her targets. This ability is so strong that she could theoretically defeat even the Shinju with a single hit. Ohirume is considered the most powerful Mangekyo Sharingan in terms of sheer destructive force, surpassing all others.

The recent chapters of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex (32 and 33) highlighted a major drawback of Sarada Uchiha’s Mangekyo Sharingan: it severely drains her chakra and risks blindness. Like all Mangekyo Sharingan, prolonged use takes a toll on the user. In chapter 32, Sarada’s eye was visibly strained from repeatedly using her Ohirume ability, causing it to become damaged and bleed, ultimately knocking her unconscious.

Himawari’s help stopped Sarada’s bleeding and partially healed her eye, but it’s clear she needs to strengthen it if she wants to be a top-level fighter. This means Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan will be getting a significant upgrade, especially with a new story arc focusing on Hidari approaching.

I fixed the damaged blood vessels and stopped the bleeding, but I’m not sure if it will restore her sight. — Himawari Uzumaki, Two Blue Vortex Chapter 33

How Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan Will Evolve And Get Past Its Strain

Following the recent events in the Boruto series, particularly after the defeat of Mamushi, the story is moving towards a confrontation with Hidari. Considering a vision Kashin Koji had of Sarada battling Hidari, it’s clear Sarada will play a key role in the upcoming fight. As this battle progresses, Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan is likely to develop even more powerful abilities.

Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto have two possible paths for Sarada’s development. They could have her take Hidari’s eyes, potentially granting her lasting power since they share DNA. Alternatively, they could bring Sakura Haruno into the story. While Sakura hasn’t had much screen time in Boruto, this could be her moment to shine by teaching Sarada Medical Ninjutsu and helping her unlock the Byakugou.

With this newfound ability, Sarada could heal her eyes even while using them, letting her use her powers for longer periods without getting tired. Either way, the next part of the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex story will likely help Sarada overcome her limits and become one of the most powerful characters around, truly living up to Sasuke’s legacy.

Boruto’s Next Arc Focusing On Shinju Hidari Is Set To Be Massive For Sarada Uchiha

Although Sarada Uchiha possesses an incredibly powerful Mangekyo Sharingan, it’s not enough to make her the strongest Uchiha overall. Raw offensive power isn’t sufficient at the highest levels of ninja skill; she needs to develop a wider range of abilities. The upcoming ‘Hidari arc’ will likely focus on this growth for Sarada. With only two Shinju remaining in the Boruto series, and Jura’s story seemingly complete, Hidari will be the next major focus for the creators. Hidari’s story is closely connected to Sarada’s, and this next arc promises significant development for both characters, as well as for Sasuke.

Sarada’s main goal in the next story arc is to rescue her father, Sasuke, and protect everyone she cares about in Konoha. She plans to do this by obtaining the Thorn Soul Bulb from Hidari and further developing the power of her Mangekyo Sharingan. Fans are hoping the authors, Kishimoto and Ikemoto, will deliver a compelling and powerful progression of her abilities.

How The Hidari Arc Can Help Awaken Sarada’s Secondary Mangekyo Ability

Sarada Uchiha might unlock a new power during her fight with Hidari in the next part of the Boruto story. Mangekyo Sharingan usually gives users two different abilities, or two versions of the same one. For example, Sasuke’s Sharingan granted him both Amaterasu and Kagutsuchi, which was a modified form of it. Itachi had Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu, and Kakashi and Obito each had their own special version of Kamui.

Sarada might develop a power similar to her father’s, and we could see her unique ability revealed in the next part of the Boruto story. Many fans believe Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan will be a major focus of the upcoming arc, and they’re excited to finally see its full potential showcased.
