New Dungeons and Dragons Project is Synthwave Star Wars Meets Cowboy Bebop

I’m so excited about Neon Odyssey! It’s a fantastic new supplement for Dungeons & Dragons that lets you play in space! It’s packed with content – over 40 sci-fi subclasses, 30 alien races you can actually play, and 300 monsters! Plus, it has rules for things like spaceship battles and becoming a bounty hunter. Seriously, this thing is amazing. It’s like the creators took Dungeons & Dragons and let you live out your favorite space opera dreams, whether you’re a Star Wars fan or you love the vibe of Cowboy Bebop. They funded it on Kickstarter almost instantly, which tells you how much people wanted this!

As a huge D&D fan, I’ve been following Avantris Entertainment for a while now. They actually started as an actual play group – you might have heard of Legends of Avantris. While they haven’t reached the same level of fame as Critical Role, they’ve built a really dedicated fanbase over nine full campaigns. But they’re not just content creators! They recently released The Crooked Moon, a seriously impressive 632-page book packed with options for players and tools for DMs, and it’s all centered around a really cool folk-horror theme.

Neon Odyssey Brings Dungeons and Dragons to the Stars

Avantris Entertainment is raising the stakes with its latest project, Neon Odyssey, which is even more ambitious than The Crooked Moon. This expansive series consists of three books—The Outrunner’s Handbook, The Cosmic Codex, and The Overdrive Expansion—designed to bring the excitement of space opera to Dungeons & Dragons. Players can explore space-opera versions of every core class in the updated D&D 5.5e ruleset, along with a new Machinist class, over 40 subclasses, 30 playable species, 100 spells, and 300 monsters—all within the books’ 1,400+ pages. To mark the launch, Avantris released a music video for Neon Odyssey, featuring a new song by synthwave artists The Midnight and visually striking animation of characters from their Stardust Rhapsody: Anthem campaign, which served as inspiration for the book.
