Nintendo Switch Online Subscribers Have New Freebies to Claim

If you have a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can now get free profile icons inspired by the game Tomodachi Life. Nintendo Switch offers lots of profile icon options featuring popular characters from games like Pokémon, Splatoon, and Metroid. Nintendo Switch Online members regularly receive new icons based on different games.

Last month, Nintendo Switch Online added profile icons based on Pokemon: Pokopia. Since then, subscribers have also gotten limited-time icons from games like Animal Crossing, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, Kirby’s Dream Land, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Some icons require you to do something specific in a game to unlock them. There are even a few inspired by the Switch 2’s GameChat feature, but you need to have it set up first to claim those.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream’s New NSO Freebies

Fans of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, now on Nintendo Switch, can get special profile icons with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. You can purchase these icons using Platinum Points – each icon costs 10 points, while frames and backgrounds are just 5 points. The first set of icons is available now until April 22nd at 5:59 PM Pacific Time, and more will be released every week until May 13th.

Tomodachi Life is known for being a strange and fun game, and its new profile icons definitely fit that vibe. The first set of icons includes speech bubbles, which is unusual, but even stranger are the pictures of food – like carbonara, sushi, tacos, and even a single cracker! Players new to the game might be confused by these options, so it will be interesting to see how fans react.

Nintendo Switch Online occasionally offers free promotional items to highlight new and upcoming games. After the current Tomodachi Life icons are removed, designs based on Yoshi and the Mysterious Book are likely to appear. This game launches on May 21st and is Nintendo’s next big release. While no games are scheduled for June, Rhythm Heaven Groove is coming out on July 2nd, so Switch Online members can probably expect related profile icons throughout the summer.

Nintendo Switch Online is popular because it lets you play games with friends, like Mario Kart World and the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A. But the service offers more than just online multiplayer. Subscribers also get access to classic games from older Nintendo systems, such as the GameCube. Just last week, three NES titles – Pac-Man, Mendel Palace, and The Tower of Druaga – were added to the library.
