The world of One Piece is incredibly large and detailed, featuring many different and interesting islands. Over the past 29 years, the creator, Eiichiro Oda, has developed a huge cast of characters with all sorts of backgrounds, from humble beginnings to royal families. Nefertari Vivi was the first royal character introduced, but since then, many more have appeared, with varying levels of power. A select few of these royals are exceptionally strong and can be considered among the most powerful characters in the One Piece universe.
8. Shuri
- Title: Princess
- Dominion Over: Esperia Kingdom
Manmayer Gunko was introduced with Figarland Shamrock at the start of the Elbaf arc. She quickly became distinct from the other Holy Knights because it became clear she wasn’t inherently malicious.
Gunko isn’t a Celestial Dragon by birth; she’s actually Princess Shuri of the Esperia Kingdom. Shuri has a hidden connection to Brook, and her past will soon be revealed. As a member of the royal family, she’s incredibly powerful, demonstrated by her actions at Elbaf. She possesses the Aro Aro no Mi and has made a pact with Imu, allowing her to easily defeat most of the Straw Hat Pirates. When Imu controls her, her power increases even further.
7. Boa Hancock
- Title: Empress
- Dominion Over: Amazon Lily
In the anime and manga One Piece, Boa Hancock is the captain of the Kuja Pirates. Her crew operates from Amazon Lily, where the leader is also considered the island’s Empress. Unlike many royal positions, the Empress isn’t chosen by family ties – the strongest woman on the island earns the title, and currently, that’s Boa Hancock.
Boa Hancock is incredibly powerful and well-rounded. She’s a master of all types of Haki, putting her among the strongest characters in the One Piece world. Her Devil Fruit, the Mero Mero no Mi, gives her the ability to defeat most opponents with a single attack, and even compete with the very top-level fighters. She’s so strong, in fact, that one of the Four Emperors avoided a direct confrontation with her.
6. Big Mom
- Title: Queen
- Dominion Over: Totto Land
Charlotte Linlin, better known as Big Mom, didn’t come from a royal family. She was born to ordinary parents, but because of her incredible strength and large size, she was left on the island of Elbaf. After being exiled from Elbaf and gaining the powers of a Devil Fruit, she began her life as a pirate.
Linlin’s incredible power allowed her to create her own kingdom, Totto Land, and become its queen. Totto Land is a huge collection of islands completely under her control, and as a former Yonko, she’s considered one of the most powerful rulers in the series.
5. Harald
- Title: King
- Dominion Over: Elbaf
Harald was the former king of Elbaf, and his immense size and strength clearly show his ancestry from the ancient Giants. He was introduced during a flashback to Elbaf, and the author, Eiichiro Oda, immediately established him as one of the most powerful characters in the One Piece world.
Harald was a powerful warrior who could fight on par with Rocks D. Xebec, a pirate captain considered stronger than most of the strongest emperors of the sea. After a special process involving Imu, he gained incredible abilities, including limitless healing and immense strength. He was a truly formidable royal, nearly impossible to defeat.
4. Loki
- Title: Prince
- Dominion Over: Elbaf Underworld
Fans had been anticipating the introduction of Loki in One Piece since the Whole Cake Island arc. He finally appeared in the Elbaf arc of the Final Saga as the Accursed Prince. Loki is a member of Elbaf’s royal family and carries the lineage of the Ancient Giants through his father, Harald.
Loki is easily one of the most powerful characters in One Piece. He was incredibly strong even before gaining his Devil Fruit powers and the Ragnir weapon. After becoming even stronger, he defeated the previous King of Elbaf, who had a special connection with Imu. Loki’s power is such that he could even challenge Imu directly on Elbaf.
3. Shirahoshi

- Dominion Over: Fishman Island
I’m absolutely fascinated by Shirahoshi! She’s not just the Princess of Fishman Island, but she comes from a really important royal family with a long history. What’s even more incredible is that she’s believed to be the reincarnation of the Mermaid Princess from the mysterious Void Century – she’s truly special among all Fishmen and Merfolk!
Shirahoshi appears gentle, but she’s incredibly powerful. As the Mermaid Princess, she’s the embodiment of Poseidon, one of the ancient weapons. Although she hasn’t fully mastered her abilities yet, her power over the Sea Kings is so great that she could cause worldwide devastation, making her one of the strongest characters in the series.

2. Davy D. Jones

Davy Jones was first mentioned during the Long Ring Long Land arc, just before the battle with Davy Back. For a long time, he wasn’t considered a very important character, but his role became much more significant in the final part of One Piece when details about his connection to Rocks D. Xebec were revealed.
We now know that Jones’s full name is Davy D. Jones, and he used to be the most powerful person in the world, known as the King of the World. Even just knowing his title, and the fact that Imu is afraid of him and his family, suggests he was incredibly strong – likely one of the strongest characters ever. No one knows where he is now, but legend says he still sails the ocean floor, collecting sunken treasure.
1. Nerona Imu

- Dominion Over: The One Piece World
In the world of One Piece, the most powerful ruler is Saint Nerona Imu, the current King of the World. A figure from the ancient Void Century, Imu has secretly ruled for centuries, taking the throne from the previous King, Davy D. Jones. He controls the World Government and, therefore, the entire world, even possessing the power to completely destroy islands.
Imu is the final villain in One Piece, and he’s clearly more powerful than anyone we’ve seen so far. His abilities come from a unique Devil Fruit with dark, mysterious powers, including Domi Reversi, Omen, and God’s Domination. We’ve only glimpsed a small part of his true strength.
