This post contains spoilers for One Piece.
Episode 1157 of One Piece felt a little slower paced than the last, which is expected since the story is just beginning the Elbaph arc. The episode revealed that Shanks almost completely destroyed the Barto Club after they shot down his flag.
It was also discovered that Blackbeard arrived at Hachinosu to find Koby and Gecko Moria had already broken free. Meanwhile, Kuzan successfully captured Monkey D. Garp, which pleased Blackbeard, as he intended to use Garp as leverage. Episode 1157 of One Piece centered around Nami’s journey through the enigmatic kingdom.
Nami’s Life Was In Danger
I woke up in this strange new place and immediately started exploring, trying to figure out where I was. That’s when a massive porcupine started chasing me! I ran and ran until I stumbled upon Usopp – he’d been captured by a huge cat. It was clear we were both in serious danger, so I used the power of Zeus to take them down. For a moment, it felt safe, like we could finally breathe. But then, the cat suddenly changed into a lion and prepared to attack both me and Usopp again!
The Monster Saved Their Crewmates From Certain Death
Luckily, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji happened to be close by and quickly defeated the lion with three special attacks. Honestly, they could have used much simpler moves – even their standard attacks would have been enough to take it down. It was really just a show of strength.

After defeating the monster, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji met back up with Nami and Usopp, but they quickly realized they were completely lost. Still, they were relieved to be together, knowing they could face whatever came next as a team.
The Monster Trio‘s Strength Will Be Tested In Elbaph
Once the crew discovers the secrets of the hidden kingdom, they’ll be able to reach Elbaph, home of the giants. Although this part of their journey has begun with some difficulties, it’s likely the Straw Hats will encounter many powerful enemies. They were incredibly lucky to escape the Egghead Incident; if Emet hadn’t possessed Joyboy’s Haki, they wouldn’t have survived.
The next part of the story will likely feature even stronger opponents, so the Straw Hat crew needs to be prepared for anything. A lot of responsibility falls on Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, as they’re the three most powerful members. They’ve protected the crew for a long time, but their performance on Egghead Island has raised doubts about whether they can continue to do so.
The simplest fix would be to give the three main characters new abilities or make their current ones stronger. For Luffy, the key is to address the limited time he can use Gear 5. Right now, he can’t maintain Gear 5 for very long, which is a big weakness when facing powerful enemies. When the effect wears off, he’s vulnerable and needs help from his friends.
Zoro needs to strengthen his control over Advanced Conqueror’s Haki. He’s made progress, but still has a lot of training to do. Because Zoro doesn’t have a Devil Fruit, mastering Haki is crucial for him to overcome increasingly powerful opponents. Improving his Haki will also be essential when he finally battles Dracule Mihawk.
Sanji is incredibly strong and durable, able to both inflict a lot of damage and take a beating. But to overcome the challenges in the Final Saga, he’ll need to master Conqueror’s Haki. The series has consistently shown that Haki is the most important power, so Sanji developing it is crucial.
