Following a two-week pause for the Golden Week holiday after issues 22-23 of Weekly Shonen Jump, new chapter 1182 of One Piece was released on May 10, 2026. Fans were eagerly awaiting this chapter, as it continued the intense fight between Nerona Imu and Loki, and set the stage for the major battles to come in the Elbaph arc. This has created a lot of excitement for chapter 1183.
Fans of One Piece will have to wait a little longer to see what happens in the upcoming Elbaph arc. Author Eiichiro Oda is taking a break, which was announced in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 24. This means a new chapter of One Piece won’t be released on May 17, 2026.
Eiichiro Oda Confirms A New Break For One Piece Following Chapter 1182 Release
Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, has announced he’s taking a break right after chapter 1182 is released. Many fans thought the manga would continue for a few more weeks following the recent Golden Week break, but it turns out One Piece will skip the next issue of Weekly Shonen Jump and return with chapter 1183 the following week.
The next break for One Piece is different than the last one. The previous break, following the chapter released on April 27, 2026, was due to Japan’s Golden Week, a time when all manga in Weekly Shonen Jump typically pause publication. This upcoming break, starting May 17, 2026, is a personal break requested by creator Eiichiro Oda. He often takes time off to rest and work on future story ideas. Oda is getting older and needs these breaks to maintain his energy and ensure the quality of the upcoming chapters.
How Eiichiro Oda’s Break Schedule Works
Eiichiro Oda, the author, doesn’t follow a strict schedule when taking breaks from creating One Piece. Currently, he generally releases three chapters at a time, followed by a break. He then returns with another set of three chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump. While it’s unusual, Oda sometimes takes a break after only two chapters, and this happens several times a year.
Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the popular manga, used to take a break after finishing every five chapters. Over time, he’s had to shorten those breaks, first to four chapters, and now to just three. This indicates he’s feeling a lot of pressure and exhaustion from the demanding schedule of publishing in Weekly Shonen Jump.
One Piece Manga Will Officially Return With Chapter 1183 On May 24, 2026
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece usually has short breaks. Unless a longer break is announced, the series is only on pause for two weeks. Since chapter 1182 was released on May 10, 2026, in issue 24 of Weekly Shonen Jump, the next chapter, 1183, will be released on May 24, 2026, in issue 26 of the same magazine.
The upcoming chapters of One Piece promise to be thrilling as the climactic battles on Elbaph unfold. We can expect Saint Jaygarcia Saturn and Kuma (Killingham) to play major roles. The story will also likely focus on characters like Loki, Imu, and Luffy, who is eager to jump into the action.
Oh no, I made a terrible mistake! I accidentally summoned something I shouldn’t have! I got carried away and now I’m really worried about the consequences. — Saint Killingham, One Piece Chapter 1182
One Piece is set to return on May 24, 2026, bringing the long-running Elbaph arc closer to its conclusion. This arc, which has been unfolding for nearly two years, is becoming increasingly thrilling, particularly after the introduction of Rain God Zaza in chapter 1182. The story is really building to a climax!

One Piece Is Scheduled To Go On Break Again After Chapter 1185
Okay, so after chapter 1183 just dropped, it looks like Oda-sensei is planning another three-chapter burst – that’s pretty standard for him! That means we can expect chapter 1184 around May 31st, 2026, and then 1185 on June 7th, 2026. Exciting, right? But here’s the thing – this is just the current plan. Oda can always decide to take a break whenever he needs to, so things could shift. As of right now, though, it looks like we’ll be getting a break after chapter 1185 on June 7th, 2026. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!
What To Expect From One Piece Over The Next Stretch Of Chapters
The next part of the manga will heavily feature Zoro and Sanji, often referred to as the “Wings of the Pirate King.” As shown in chapter 1182, they’re now working to protect Elbaph from the enemies of Nerona Imu. Those enemies, Sommers and Killingham, have become much stronger – so strong that no one on Elbaph can currently defeat them. Zoro and Sanji are the only ones capable of handling this threat, and it’s their chance to fully master their Conqueror’s Haki and significantly increase their power. This upcoming arc will focus on their growth and development.

Sanji: Right back at you!

Hopefully, Eiichiro Oda will draw more of the battle between Luffy, Loki, and Imu. Right now, Imu is clearly winning, and their physical condition is rapidly worsening. This creates a tense race against time for Luffy and his allies. Even though they’re at a disadvantage, they can still win if they can just hold on long enough. Over the next month, the manga will reveal more of this conflict as Oda moves the story toward the end of the Elbaph arc and begins a new one – a journey that will take Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates to a legendary island visited only by the Pirate King.
