The latest chapter of One Piece, chapter 1182, was officially released on May 10th, 2026, in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #24. This chapter continues the Elbaf arc and further develops the character of Nerona Imu, revealing the extent of his immense power. Creator Eiichiro Oda introduced Imu’s Devil Fruit, named ‘Akuma no Mi’ (or ‘The Devil’s Fruit’), establishing it as the oldest and most powerful ability in the One Piece world.
Nerona Imu’s impressive power shown in chapters 1180-1182 of the Elbaf Arc strongly suggests he’s currently the strongest Haki user in the Grand Line. Both direct statements and his actions during the arc’s climax back this up.
One Piece Chapter 1180 And 1181 Officially Confirm Nerona Imu As The Current Strongest Haki User
In Chapter 1179 of One Piece, released on April 6, 2026, Nerona Imu – often called the ‘King of the World’ and the true God of the One Piece universe – finally appeared in Elbaf. This was a huge surprise to me and many fans, as we expected Imu to be saved for the very end of the story. When Imu was first introduced eight years ago during the Reverie Arc, he seemed destined to be the ultimate villain revealed in the final arcs. However, Eiichiro Oda completely subverted expectations by bringing Imu into play much earlier, and it’s actually created a lot of excitement among fans.
“Five Elders, I will be leaving the Holy Land for a while!” — Nerona Imu, One Piece Chapter #1178
Imu’s incredible power comes mostly from his Devil Fruit abilities – like transforming into a monstrous form, using a power called Omen, and what he refers to as God’s Domination. However, he’s also an exceptionally skilled fighter, likely the strongest in the world of One Piece right now, thanks to his Haki. Currently, Imu possesses the strongest Haki of anyone alive in the Grand Line. Being the ultimate antagonist in One Piece, his overall strength surpasses even powerful characters like Loki and Luffy, making his Haki superior to theirs as well.
In One Piece Chapter 1180, released on April 20, 2026, Imu demonstrated overwhelming power in their battle against Loki. Even though Loki is a powerful warrior god from Elbaf, he was easily defeated by Imu. Imu’s attacks were infused with the Conqueror’s Haki, and throughout the fight, Imu consistently dominated, suggesting their Haki is superior to Loki’s.
You know, discovering Omen’s power has been incredible! It’s not just his strength, it’s this amazing force that exists inside everyone – a hidden potential! That’s what Nerona Imu revealed, and it totally blew my mind in Chapter 1181. It’s like a primal, military-level ability we all possess!
In Chapter 1181 of One Piece, Luffy explicitly stated he’d never encountered Haki as powerful as Imu’s, and he was visibly sweating while saying it. This confirms that Imu’s Haki surpasses even Luffy’s and Kaido’s, as Luffy expressed genuine fear and acknowledged the immense strength of Imu’s presence.
“I need to eat more! This is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced! It’s incredibly powerful and oppressive… what is that man’s Haki?” — Monkey D. Luffy, reacting to Imu’s Haki in One Piece chapter 1181.
Although some fans still argue about who is stronger – characters like Nerona Imu or Shanks – the argument was settled in Chapter 1180 by Scopper Gaban. After seeing the strength of Imu’s Haki, Gaban stated he hadn’t felt power like that even during the events at God Valley 38 years prior.
During the God Valley incident, Oda demonstrated the immense power of Conqueror’s Haki wielded by Garp, Roger, and Rocks D. Xebec (after being reversed by Domi). We also sensed Imu’s powerful Haki through Saturn in Chapter 1164. However, Gaban explicitly states that the Haki he experienced in Elbaf in Chapter 1180 was even stronger – a level above anything he’s felt before.
What is this power?! I’ve never sensed Haki this strong, even at God Valley! — Scopper Gaban, One Piece Chapter 1180
After seeing so many characters with strong Haki abilities throughout the last year and a half of the Elbaf arc, I believe Nerona Imu is the most powerful of them all – and therefore, the strongest Haki user in the entire Grand Line.
Nerona Imu’s Full Haki Power Has Yet To Be Revealed In Elbaph
Imu’s attacks, like the Gazing Eclipse seen in Chapter 1182, are already powerful, but it’s important to remember he’s currently weakened. According to statements made in Chapter 1182, Imu’s body is suffering greatly from being in the lower world, meaning he isn’t fighting at his full strength. We saw evidence of this in Chapter 1179 when Imu started coughing up blood as soon as he arrived on Elbaf. This suggests his Conqueror’s Haki isn’t at its strongest either, even with everything he’s capable of.
Great Imu’s physical form can’t withstand the external world. However, beyond that, both the power we require and the power we must eliminate are contained within us. — Saint Sommers, One Piece Chapter 1182
We won’t truly understand how powerful Imu is until he’s fully recovered in One Piece. Seeing this much power from him now makes me worried about just how strong he’ll become in the final arc of the story.

Only Joy Boy’s Haki Has Been Shown To Surpass Imu’s In One Piece Chapter 1122
Imu’s powerful showing in the Elbaf Arc strongly suggests he’s currently the strongest user of Conqueror’s Haki in the world of One Piece. However, looking back at the entire history of the series, particularly the Void Century, Joy Boy possessed even greater Haki. We finally got a clear look at Joy Boy’s Haki in One Piece Chapter 1122, released on August 5, 2024, revealing that he sealed it within Emeth.
Dorry and Brogy were amazed by Joy Boy’s Haki, wondering if it was even more powerful than Red Hair’s, and noting there was no sense of malice or aggression behind it – it was purely impressive. (One Piece Chapter 1123)
This incredibly powerful Haki split the sky, neutralized the abilities of the Five Elders, forced four of them to retreat to Marijoa, and knocked out all the Vice Admirals near Egghead. Most impressively, it caused immense pain to Imu, even though he was thousands of miles away in Marijoa. This feat remains the greatest display of Haki ever seen in One Piece, solidifying Joy Boy’s reputation as the strongest Haki user of all time. However, as confirmed in One Piece Chapter 1115, Joy Boy died 800 years ago. Because of his death, and the end of the Void Century war, he is no longer a contender for the title of strongest Haki user. After Joy Boy’s passing, Nerona Imu rose to power and now reigns as the strongest Supreme King user in the Grand Line.
