Rumor: Marathon Open Beta in August Before September Launch

Although the announcement for Marathon was made as far back as May 2023, gamers didn’t get a glimpse of the gameplay until this month when Bungie revealed its release date, September 23, in an exciting trailer. In a gaming market that appears to be overflowing with extraction shooters, the creators of Marathon assert that the game isn’t aiming to compete with well-known titles like Escape from Tarkov; instead, it promises a more user-friendly experience. The game has already caught attention due to its cyberpunk atmosphere and absence of proximity chat, a feature designed to minimize toxicity within the playerbase of this upcoming title. Players are anxious to test out the feel of the game, but widespread access might not come until later.

The Wii U Era Is Proof That Nintendo Is So Corporate Now

Indeed, for the majority of gamers, the experience was quite different. They encountered a system with some outstanding exclusive games, decent hardware performance that wasn’t exceptional, frustratingly long load times, and a feature that seemed to hinder rather than help more frequently.

Death Stranding 2’s Twist: Honoring or Repeating MGS2’s Shocking Prototype Swap?

Wearing a bandana and military garb, Neil bears an striking resemblance to the character Solid Snake, leading some to speculate that this could be a hint towards a change in the main character. This isn’t the first time Kojima has taken a bold move with a game’s protagonist, as seen in MGS2: Sons of Liberty, where players were surprised to discover they wouldn’t be controlling Solid Snake but rather Raiden instead. While it’s possible that Neil could step into Sam’s shoes as the main character, it might be prudent to steer clear of such a dramatic shift in the narrative.

Defiance Is Back from the Dead: Free-to-Play MMO Shooter Relaunches on PC with a Bang!

Back in the day, I was deeply engrossed in “Defiance,” a game created by the now-closed studio, Trion Worlds. This game was designed to complement the Syfy TV show of the same name, which ran for three seasons and ended back in 2015. Initially launched as a premium game on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in April 2013, it switched to free-to-play just 14 months after its release. A revamped version of the looter shooter, “Defiance 2050,” made its debut in July 2018. Unfortunately, the relaunch didn’t fare too well, with “Defiance 2050” being one of the lowest-rated free-to-play games during its time. Later on, the German company Gamigo took over Trion Worlds and shut down both versions of “Defiance” in April 2021.
