As a huge fan of cinema and video games, I’m really intrigued by the upcoming Legend of Zelda adaptation. It’s a bold move by Nintendo, teaming up with Sony to go live-action, which is a big departure from the animated success they had with The Super Mario Bros. Movie and talk about a Super Mario Galaxy Movie. While live-action definitely makes it a tougher sell to a broad audience, it honestly feels right for the world of Zelda – it’s a universe that could really lend itself to a more realistic approach.

Eiichiro Oda’s hugely popular manga, One Piece, is coming back next week! After a short break, it’s now confirmed that Chapter 1183 will be released on May 24, 2026, in Issue #26 of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Fans are especially excited for this new chapter, as the previous ones ended on a thrilling note.

The announcement coincided with the launch of Season 19: Act 3 in Sea of Thieves, which introduced a new player-versus-player (PVP) event called Last Ship Standing. This mode pits six crews against each other in a naval battle where the last ship afloat wins. While all crews participating in Last Ship Standing will earn rewards, players will receive even greater Allegiance bonuses based on how well they perform and how long they survive. Currently, to ensure a balanced experience, only crews of one or two players can participate.

The recent second anniversary update for Solo Leveling: Arise surprised players with the addition of two new, dark origin stories. These stories focus on the characters Myro and Antoine Martinez, who both became playable on May 7, 2026. Their backstories are considered among the most heartbreaking in the Solo Leveling universe, rivaling even the tragic history of Jinwoo.

Fortunately, these games offer more than just a fresh visual style. Many of them successfully combine elements that are special to their particular format. Defining a ‘2.5D’ game can be tricky, though. Games like isometric titles or fighters such as Guilty Gear: Strive might technically qualify, but are usually considered their own distinct styles.

The original Subnautica games featured scary creatures, but focused on peaceful exploration. Players could catch small fish for resources, but larger predators were mainly obstacles to avoid. While it was possible to kill these creatures, there wasn’t much reason to, and players didn’t have powerful weapons to do so. Now, with Subnautica 2, the developers, Unknown Worlds Entertainment, have removed the ability to harm or kill any of the game’s creatures entirely.
