Next year promises some exciting movies, including major releases like Avengers: Secret Wars and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which will likely thrill fans of big-budget action. However, for gamers, the most eagerly awaited release is likely to be The Legend of Zelda.
As a huge fan of cinema and video games, I’m really intrigued by the upcoming Legend of Zelda adaptation. It’s a bold move by Nintendo, teaming up with Sony to go live-action, which is a big departure from the animated success they had with The Super Mario Bros. Movie and talk about a Super Mario Galaxy Movie. While live-action definitely makes it a tougher sell to a broad audience, it honestly feels right for the world of Zelda – it’s a universe that could really lend itself to a more realistic approach.
With so much riding on the live-action Legend of Zelda movie, fans are eagerly awaiting a first look at footage. Aside from the cast list, very little has been revealed – just three pictures of Link and Zelda in a field and a single piece of concept art. There’s also been speculation about a set glimpsed in a social media photo, but it was quickly removed, raising questions about potential leaks.

I’m really hoping we get a trailer soon for the Legend of Zelda movie! While leaked set photos are always a possibility, I think that’s going to be our first real glimpse. And with the movie coming out less than a year from now – they actually moved up the release date, which is amazing! – I’m expecting this trailer to be pretty substantial, showing us a lot of what the movie is about and giving us some key story details. I can’t wait!
When can we expect the trailer for The Legend of Zelda? The summer is likely the best time for its release, as more people are going to the movies then – except maybe for those eager to see Avengers: Doomsday. But figuring out which movie to show the trailer before is the next question, and it seems pretty clear to me which one it should be.
With summer’s biggest movie releases – likely including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, along with Toy Story 5 and The Odyssey – attaching your trailer to one of them is a smart way to reach a large audience. Spider-Man especially appeals to fans who would also be excited about a Legend of Zelda movie, making it a particularly good fit.
Perhaps even more significantly, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a Sony film, and studios often use their current releases to advertise upcoming ones. We’ve seen this happen before – for instance, the first trailer for Toy Story 5 (from Disney Pixar) played before Zootopia 2 (a Disney film), and the initial trailer for The Odyssey (Universal) was shown with Jurassic World Rebirth (also Universal). Generally, studios time their biggest trailer reveals to coincide with their most hyped current projects.
It’s likely the new Legend of Zelda trailer will play before Spider-Man: Brand New Day in theaters. However, trailers often appear online a few days beforehand, so you probably won’t have to see the movie in theaters just to watch it—though you were likely planning to see the new Spider-Man film anyway.
If the trailer isn’t finished yet, fans may have to wait a bit longer. However, I’d be shocked if we don’t see something this summer. Even a short teaser showing Link and Zelda in their outfits, and maybe our first look at Ganon, would be enough to get people excited.

If the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie trailer hinted at which game it’s based on – maybe with a glimpse of the Temple of Time – the internet would go crazy! For now, we’ll have to wait and see, but keep July 31, 2026, in mind, as that’s when Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes out.
