Solo Leveling Expands Its Lore With New Manhwa Release

Although Season 3 of Solo Leveling hasn’t been officially announced, the story world is growing through Solo Leveling: Arise. This new series recently added official chapters to the story, connecting to existing characters and events. These fresh chapters have revitalized the franchise while fans wait for news about Season 3 and after the pause in Solo Leveling: Ragnarok.

The recent second anniversary update for Solo Leveling: Arise surprised players with the addition of two new, dark origin stories. These stories focus on the characters Myro and Antoine Martinez, who both became playable on May 7, 2026. Their backstories are considered among the most heartbreaking in the Solo Leveling universe, rivaling even the tragic history of Jinwoo.

Solo Leveling’s Myro And Antonie Martinez Have Their Hunter Origin One-Shots

Netmarble’s Solo Leveling: Arise has received significant content updates this year, while other areas of the game have remained unchanged. These updates include standalone stories focusing on hunters, expanded background lore, new original hunter characters, and additional side stories – all of which can be found on Netmarble’s website. The standalone stories specifically delve into the process of becoming a powerful hunter within the Solo Leveling universe.

The new one-shot stories in Solo Leveling: Arise are captivating because they focus on the emotional struggles of becoming a powerful Hunter, rather than just action-packed dungeon fights. Like the main character, Sung Jinwoo, characters like Myro and Antoine Martinez have deeply sad and moving backstories.

The story begins with Myro, a celebrated pianist who wasn’t a Hunter, but whose life was shattered by a dangerous, obsessed stalker. This Hunter, fixated on Myro, destroyed her career and reputation in a single night by attacking her audience during a performance. He then captured her and exposed her to a strange illness, similar to the one that affected Jinwoo’s mother. Determined to resist, Myro tried to end her own life, but was stopped by Baran, a powerful demon king. Baran offered her a chance for revenge, and in doing so, awakened her hidden potential, making her his chosen successor and setting her on a new path.

Antoine Martinez was a loving husband and father before he became a renowned healer. His life was shattered when his daughter received a terminal diagnosis. While rushing her to the hospital, their car was hit by a truck. In that moment of crisis, Antoine discovered he had special abilities as a Hunter, allowing him to carry his family on foot to the hospital. Sadly, his daughter didn’t survive, but Antoine found strength in her diary, where she described him as a protector. Driven by her memory, he vowed to safeguard others, becoming a powerful Healer and Hunter.

Solo Leveling continues to impress with its deeply moving backstories for its Hunters, while also revealing more about the world they inhabit. The stories of Myro and Antoine add important details to the larger narrative and explore the emotional and mental challenges Hunters face when gaining their powers. These backstories are comparable to Jinwoo’s – he too gained his abilities after a tragic event. Jinwoo was fatally wounded during a dungeon raid, and his extraordinary powers came at a great personal cost.

In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, it’s shown that most rulers choose their own replacements, but it was unclear who the Demon Monarch had chosen. The story of Myro finally revealed that the Demon Monarch did personally select his successor. Additionally, the character Antoine Martinez, a Hunter from France, expands the scope of the series by showing what the Hunter world is like outside of Korea.

I’m so excited to share that Solo Leveling: Arise is finally here! You can jump in and play on your iOS or Android device, or even on PC. And if you’re eager to learn more about the world, Netmarble has posted some fantastic new ‘Hunter Origin’ stories on their website – definitely worth checking out!
