Steam has taken down the game Pickmos after it was accused of being a copy of Pokemon and Palworld. While the survival game was planned to launch fully in 2027, its future is now in question because of ongoing problems with its development. Initial concerns were raised by the game’s original name, Pickmon, which many felt was too similar to Pokemon. Even after changing the name to Pickmos, critics continued to point out that the game looked too much like other popular titles, going beyond just taking inspiration from them.
I’ve seen a lot of talk about whether this game is too similar to other popular titles, and it’s not just about Palworld and Pokemon. Even when it was first announced, people were pointing out how much it reminded them of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It seems like the comparisons are coming from multiple directions.
Pickmos Removed From Steam
Following several controversies, the game Pickmos has been removed from Steam. The publisher, NetworkGo, responded with a statement on Twitter, saying they’ve heard player feedback and are now actively joining the game’s development. NetworkGo will be directly overseeing the Pickmos team to make improvements based on player suggestions and ultimately deliver a better gaming experience.
Players reacted with skepticism to the publisher’s promises in the comments section. One user questioned whether the game was copying the Pokemon series, sharing a fan-made Pokemon design and asking if the issue of potential plagiarism would be addressed. Others felt the publisher was trying to avoid taking responsibility, arguing that the promised changes wouldn’t matter much if the game’s core idea wasn’t original. NetworkGo responded by saying they’re currently collecting information to help them improve the game and deliver an experience players can enjoy without controversy.
The official gameplay trailer for Pickmos on YouTube received a lot of criticism from viewers. Many people commented that the game didn’t seem original, and appeared to borrow ideas from other games.

Look, I’ve played a ton of monster-collecting and survival games, and Palworld definitely isn’t the first. But this game called Pickmos? It’s… something else. It’s so clearly trying to copy Palworld that it just feels off. Honestly, I have no idea what’s going to happen with it – will they fix it and bring it back to Steam? It’s really up in the air right now.
