So, Sony sent out a survey, and it sounds like they might be tweaking the trophy system on PlayStation! It’s been around forever β like, three whole console generations β but the survey suggests they’re thinking about letting us customize what trophies we actually show off to other players. That could be pretty cool β finally, I can hide those super easy ones if I want!
As a PlayStation fan, I’ve been really impressed with how Sony keeps adding cool stuff to the PS5 since it came out in 2020. I just heard about a new feature they’re testing β it’s a player count widget for the PS5’s main menu! Basically, it shows you what games everyone’s playing. There’s a ‘Trending’ tab to see what people are spending the most time on, and a ‘Top 10’ tab that shows the most popular games each week. It’s still in testing right now, so we’ll have to wait and see when it officially launches, but I’m already excited to see what everyone else is playing!
PlayStation is Conducting a Survey About Trophies
Sony is collecting feedback from PlayStation players who earn Platinum trophies. After unlocking a trophy, some users are now seeing a quick survey asking about their experience with trophies. This survey comes as a pop-up on screen and is followed by a more detailed email. The survey asks users to agree or disagree with statements, and also provides space for suggestions on how to improve the trophy system. It’s currently unknown how long the survey will be available, so players who see it are encouraged to complete it.

PlayStation is considering a revamp of its trophy system, potentially mirroring changes Microsoft is making to Xbox achievements. Microsoft announced that starting in April 2026, Xbox players will have greater control over their achievement displays, including a special profile feature when they earn all achievements in a game. Players will also be able to hide games from their profile β a long-requested feature β without affecting their overall Gamerscore.
Sony has been making some changes for PlayStation users recently. Starting May 20th, PlayStation Plus subscription prices went up because of rising costs around the world. The Essential tier now costs $10.99 a month, up from $9.99. Extra and Premium tiers increased by $2 each, to $16.99 and $19.99 monthly, respectively. This price increase follows a price hike for the PS5 itself, which now costs $599.99 for the digital edition β a $100 increase from its previous price of $499.99. This all happened shortly after Sony surveyed players about their PlayStation trophies.
