Say Hello to Toei Games, a New Branch With No New Kamen Rider Games

Japan has a rich history of creativity in the video game world, and is the birthplace of iconic companies like PlayStation, Nintendo, and Capcom.

Toei, the well-known company behind popular franchises like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Dragon Ball, and One Piece, is expanding into video game development with a new division called Toei Games. This marks the first time the company will directly create and publish its own games.

Longtime anime and tokusatsu fans might be thrilled by this news, but unfortunately, it doesn’t mean new games based on popular Toei properties are coming anytime soon.

The Launch and Goal of Toei Games

Toei Animation’s parent company, Toei, is launching Toei Games as part of a larger, long-term plan called “Toei New Wave 2033.” According to Toei’s CEO, Fumio Yoshimura, the goal is to share more of their stories with audiences worldwide.

Yoshimura explained that they see their biggest challenge in the video game industry – particularly competing worldwide – as a way to achieve their overall goals.

Toei Games is launching as a key part of Toei’s entertainment business, joining Toei Animation and the teams that create movies and TV shows. It will be a major focus alongside these established divisions.

We see our work in the video game industry – especially as we compete on a global scale – as a perfect example of our overall goals.

Yoshimura also mentioned that Toei Games won’t be making games based on popular series like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, or Dragon Ball. Instead, they’ll focus on creating entirely new game franchises, using Toei’s technology and filmmaking skills.

Toei Games is initially focusing on releasing games for PC through Steam, with plans to expand to consoles like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox later on.

Toei Games will reveal its first game on Friday, April 24th. The company is already planning several more titles, and has brought together developers from Japan and around the world to create them.

Although some fans might be sad to hear Toei Games won’t be making new games based on their most famous series, their future titles will probably still have the same fun humor and exciting action that fans love in their superhero and anime shows.

If Toei Games’ initial games are successful internationally, they might expand to create games based on their popular franchises like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai to attract a wider global audience. This could include new games based on current Kamen Rider series, inspired by the Kamen Rider Ex-Aid video game theme, or featuring any of the many Super Sentai teams.
