I’m so excited – the first ever FromSoftware game is getting a movie! It’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and it’s coming out in Japan this year. Sadly, it looks like those of us outside Japan will have to wait or find another way to see it, which is a real bummer.
Although movies based on Elden Ring and Bloodborne are in development, a film adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will likely be released first, currently slated for 2026. Sekiro is considered a more straightforward adaptation than the others because it features a defined main character, unlike games where players create their own.
Originally planned for release in 2026, the anime film Sekiro: No Defeat has a confirmed release date in Japan: September 4, 2026. It will be shown in theaters there for three weeks. Unfortunately, audiences outside of Japan won’t have the chance to see it in cinemas.

Crunchyroll will soon be streaming Sekiro: No Defeat in most countries, but it won’t be available in Japan, China, Korea, Russia, or Belarus. If you live outside those countries and want to watch, you’ll need a Crunchyroll subscription, as they’re handling the global release.
As a huge fan, I’m really curious about how they’re going to adapt Sekiro: No Defeat! It’s been announced as a series, which is exciting, but we don’t know how many episodes there will be or how long they’ll be. Honestly, depending on the length, it could end up being more like a long movie than a traditional series, and I’m trying not to get my hopes up too much until we know more!
