Solo Leveling: 7 Strongest Shadows That Rival Igris, Ranked

Sung Jinwoo’s shadow army is a standout feature of Solo Leveling. His unique Shadow Extraction skill, which lets him summon shadows of those he’s defeated, is incredibly powerful and central to his journey to becoming stronger.

Igris is easily one of the strongest members of Sung Jinwoo’s Shadow army in Solo Leveling. He’s an incredibly skilled swordsman, fiercely loyal, and has a commanding presence that sets him apart. Though Igris is exceptionally powerful, the other Shadows Jinwoo controls are also strong enough to compete with powerful enemies like the Blood-Red Commander.

7. Kamish

Although Sung Jinwoo only controlled Kamish for a short time, Kamish still qualifies as one of his former shadows. We don’t know much about how strong Kamish was when serving Sung Jinwoo, but his past as a devastatingly powerful dungeon boss gives us a good idea. As a ‘calamity’-level threat, Kamish destroyed a large portion of the American west coast and killed many top-level hunters.

Kamish was a powerful fighter, comparable to Igris, and likely would have become a marshal if he hadn’t died. His immense strength – he was at a dragon level and his breath attacks were devastating – once required five top-tier S-rank hunters just to control.

6. Greed

Greed, one of Hwang Dong-Soo’s shadows, isn’t the most powerful, but he’s far from weak. He’s a solid, dependable fighter—strong enough to command respect, but not a top-tier leader or frontline warrior. He’s a powerful mid-level combatant within the shadow army.

If Jinwoo had kept Greed as a companion, he likely would have become as powerful as Igris. Despite not appearing often, Greed consistently showcases incredible abilities that even Igris couldn’t replicate without the courage of a top-level hunter. A prime example of this is when Greed effortlessly shattered the ice prison of the Frost Monarch, demonstrating his immense strength.

5. Kaisel

Unlike Igris, who actively fights Jinwoo’s enemies with a sword, Kaisel doesn’t directly attack in Solo Leveling. However, that doesn’t make him weak! Kaisel’s power as a wyvern shadow allows Jinwoo to control the battlefield in a unique and effective way.

Kaisel’s incredible flying ability makes him a reliable ally for Jinwoo, giving him full control of the air during battles. This allows Jinwoo to plan attacks from above – a tactic Igris can’t manage without the ability to fly.

4. Min Byung-Gu

Similar to Kamish, Min Byung-Gu only briefly joined Sung Jinwoo’s shadow army, technically still being considered a part of it during that time. Despite being a shadow for a short period, he was able to do things during the fourth Jeju Ant raid that even Jinwoo or Igris couldn’t.

Min Byung-Gu was renowned as Korea’s most powerful healer during his lifetime. Even after becoming a spirit, he kept his healing skills, successfully treating Cha Hae-In’s life-threatening wounds – something even Jinwoo’s potent potions, like the Elixir of Life, couldn’t do.

3. Tusk

Similar to Igris, Tusk is an incredibly powerful shadow creature with devastating magical attacks. He can quickly destroy entire battlefields and wipe out large groups of monsters, making fights overwhelmingly one-sided. Tusk is a valuable asset to Jinwoo’s team because his attacks cover a wide area, allowing Jinwoo to clear dungeons efficiently without getting bogged down by weaker enemies.

When Tusk holds the Orb of Avarice, his magical abilities become incredibly powerful, far beyond what they normally are. Even Sung Jinwoo is surprised by the huge increase in Tusk’s magic. While he isn’t a skilled swordsman like Igris, Tusk excels in large battles and warfare.

2. Beru

Igris wins Jinwoo’s approval with consistent loyalty and skill in battle. Beru, however, takes devotion to another level, completely worshipping Jinwoo and obeying every order flawlessly. Beru is determined to never fail or be defeated, no matter the circumstances.

Beru and Igris fight in completely different ways. While Igris is precise and thoughtful with a sword, Beru is wild and acts on instinct. She uses her speed and strength to overwhelm enemies, creating powerful, chaotic attacks.

1. Bellion

Bellion is a remarkably powerful figure in Solo Leveling. He greatly enhances Sung Jinwoo’s shadow army thanks to his exceptional leadership, fighting skills, and unwavering devotion to the Shadow Monarch. He truly deserves the title of the strongest shadow in the series, as he possesses the power to match it.

I’ve observed that Bellion holds a unique rank – Grand Marshal – that no one else possesses. Though he isn’t as skilled a swordsman as Igris, Bellion excels in many other ways. He’s noticeably stronger and faster, a better commander, and generally more dominant on the battlefield. Overall, he seems to have a greater capacity for widespread destruction and is simply more effective in large-scale combat.
