Solo Leveling’s Sung Jinwoo Is Officially Crowned King Of Battle Shonen

Since its exciting release in 2024, Solo Leveling has quickly become popular with fans worldwide. The first season introduced viewers to a captivating world and followed Sung Jinwoo’s journey as he grew stronger in battle, eventually becoming the Shadow Monarch. A key part of the show’s appeal is its impressive action, which was particularly noticeable in Season 2. Having watched both seasons closely over the past two years, it’s clear that Solo Leveling consistently improves its action sequences, both in terms of the fights themselves and the stunning animation provided by A-1 Pictures.

I was so excited when Season 2 of Solo Leveling finally dropped in 2025! And it totally deserved the recognition it got, earning nominations at the 2026 Crunchyroll Awards. While it didn’t quite sweep like it did the year before, it still took home the awards for Best Action and Best Animation – cementing its place as one of the best battle shonen anime out there right now, in my opinion!

Solo Leveling Wins Best Action and Best Animation At 2026 Crunchyroll Awards On May 23, 2026

The Crunchyroll Awards began in 2017 and have since become a highly anticipated annual event for anime fans around the world. The 2026 Crunchyroll Awards, held in Japan, celebrated anime series that aired on the platform in 2025. Nominations were announced on April 2, 2026, and fans were able to vote until April 15, 2026. The winners were revealed during the award ceremony on May 23, 2026.

Fans worldwide were eagerly anticipating the awards results for Solo Leveling, which had been a huge success in 2025, winning most of the awards it was up for. Although Solo Leveling still performed well this year, it didn’t achieve the same level of success as last year.

In 2026, Solo Leveling received nominations in several categories, including Best Continuing Series, Best Animation, Best Action, and awards for its characters, music, and voice acting in both Spanish and Hindi. The series ultimately won two awards: Best Animation and Best Action. These wins were well-earned, recognizing the significant improvement in animation quality during Season 2 and the exciting action sequences featuring the main character, Sung Jinwoo.

Sung Jinwoo’s Beautifully Animated High Intensity Fights Against Baruka, Baran, and Ant King Make Him The Modern King Of Battles

Many fans consider Sung Jinwoo’s Solo Leveling to be one of the best action-packed anime series of recent times. Like classics such as Dragon Ball, it’s full of exciting battles and moves at a rapid pace. While Season 1 had a standout fight between Jinwoo and Igris, which led to him becoming the Shadow Monarch, Season 2 truly blew viewers away with one incredible battle after another – it left me and countless others speechless.

Season two of Solo Leveling showcases several incredible fights, but the battle between Sung Jinwoo and Baran, the Monarch of White Flames, really stands out. As the main boss of the Demon Castle, Baran provided a thrilling challenge and a fitting climax to Jinwoo’s journey through all 100 levels.

The Baran and Barca battles were extremely exciting, but the true highlight of Season 2 was Jinwoo’s final battle against the Ant King. After the Japanese S-Rank Hunters got decimated, and the Korean Hunters were close to being killed, Jinwoo arrived to save the day on Jeju Island by fighting the main threat. The Ant King far surpasses even a horde of S-Rank Hunters, pushing Jinwoo’s scaling to a whole new level.

The battle scenes were visually impressive, and the excellent animation by Aniplex and A-1 Pictures is largely why the series received awards. The fight between Jinwoo and the Ant King was particularly well-choreographed and smooth. Combined with a compelling story and powerful characters, it proved to be a winning formula.

Solo Leveling’s Season 3 Return Will Highlight More High-Octane Action

In 2026, Solo Leveling Season 2 became the most popular action anime. Building on the improvements made in Season 2, the next installment – potentially Season 3, according to Crunchyroll’s CEO – could be even better.

Season 3 of Solo Leveling will continue the story, and the next major storyline looks to be the Double Dungeon arc, covering chapters 123-131 of the manhwa. This will pit Jinwoo against the Architect in a battle that could be even more intense than his fight with the Ant King. The best action in Solo Leveling is still to come, and fans are eagerly anticipating what happens next.
