Both Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties and other Yakuza games feature Status Ailments as part of their fighting system. These conditions add a layer of strategy to battles and can be applied using Kazuma Kiryu and Yoshitaka Mine’s unique fighting styles or special attacks. You can also inflict them by using weapons you find during combat.
This guide for Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties details all status ailments – what they do to enemies during battles, and how you can inflict them yourself.
All Status Ailments and Effects

How to Inflict Status Ailments in Combat

Equip Sai or Kama weapons, which are inspired by Ryukyu weaponry, to make enemies bleed. Bleeding causes enemies to flash red and gradually lose health.
Stun Status
Ryukyu Style fighting allows you to use special moves or Tonfa attacks to stun opponents, leaving them vulnerable to powerful critical hits. These stunning attacks might even have an electrical effect.
Enemies can stun Kazuma Kiryu and Yoshitaka Mine with blunt weapon special attacks.
Poison Status
Use weapons imbued with poison, such as knives, to hinder enemy targets with Poison status.
Shock Status
Use a Stun gun to shock enemies, temporarily disabling them and interrupting their attacks.
Enemies under Shock status are temporarily disabled.
Burn Status
Just like poisoning, using fiery weapons causes enemies to suffer from Burn. This makes them drop to the ground, engulfed in flames, and take damage over time.
Fear Status
When you defeat several enemies, the remaining ones will become weakened and display a blue glow, stumbling or falling as they fight.
Rage Status
When enemies are attacked, they’ll become enraged. They can also become enraged randomly if you successfully dodge their attacks.
Cold Status
Hitting enemies with powerful attacks will make them under Cold status.
Charm Status
Some special moves can inflict enemies with Charm effects.
Attacking Charmed adversaries will not remove their Charm effect.
Okay, so I’ve been playing Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, and I’ve learned that really understanding how those status effects work is a game-changer. No matter if I’m using the Dragon of Dojima style, Ryukyu, or Shoot-Boxing, knowing how to mess with enemies – like stunning or poisoning them – seriously boosts my damage and helps me control the battlefield. It makes fights, especially against bosses, way faster and easier!
