What Does Feeding and Petting Rabbits Do in Outbound? Explained

In Outbound, you’ll journey through a stunning open world from the cozy space of your camper van. You can expand your exploration by crafting new items, furniture, and upgrades for the van, allowing you to reach previously inaccessible areas and enter the landmarks you see in the distance. While the game can sometimes feel solitary, you won’t be entirely alone. You’ll encounter animals like rabbits that you can interact with – you can even pet and feed them! This guide will explain everything about how these interactions work and what benefits they offer.

How to Pet and Feed Rabbits and Other Animals in Outbound

In Outbound, you need to feed rabbits before you can pet them. To do that, make sure you have Roadberries in your inventory – you won’t be able to befriend a rabbit without them.

After you collect the Roadberries, go up to the rabbit. You’ll then have the chance to feed it one of the berries by pressing the A button. Press A (or X on some controllers), and you’ll see a short animation of you giving the berry to the rabbit, who will eat it. When it’s done, a heart will appear above its head, meaning you’ve become friends with the rabbit.

To pet the rabbit again, just approach it and press the A button (or X button, depending on your controller). You’ll see a short animation, and the rabbit will show even more affection!

You can continue to pet and feed the rabbit after you’ve petted it the first time.

What Does Feeding and Petting a Rabbit Do in Outbound?

As a player, I’ve found that doing things in this game has a cool chain reaction! For example, if you give a rabbit some food, it’ll become friendly, and then you can actually pet it. It’s not just one thing happening, but a little sequence!

If you pet the rabbit, it’ll like you even more and begin following you for a brief period of time.

Honestly, as much as I love it, petting and feeding rabbits seems to be mostly just a really sweet experience! It’s fun to have a little fluffy friend close for a bit, and that’s pretty much the best part, as far as I can tell.

Okay, so interacting with rabbits isn’t super important in Outbound, but you can adopt a dog, and that’s awesome! Seriously, having a furry buddy follow you around is great. Plus, your dog can actually help you out by carrying items, and you can even teach them tricks. And if you’re an achievement hunter like me, adopting and giving your new pup some love will unlock ‘Can you pet the dog?’ and ‘Fur-Ever Friend’.
