While several smaller showcases are already announcing their lineups, Summer Game Fest itself is keeping things a secret. Summer Game Fest’s Lineup Might Be a Mystery, But There Are a Few Staples

Expect to see announcements of new games, updates on existing ones like downloadable content, and even ads for related projects. The event typically features a mix of big-budget AAA games and smaller indie titles, though most indie games are highlighted in separate events like Day of the Devs. Last year’s show had a fun surprise with Capcom jokingly suggesting Resident Evil Requiem wouldn’t appear, only to reveal it as the closing announcement. There’s talk that a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica might be announced this year, but that’s just a rumor for now. Aside from that, this year’s Summer Game Fest could finally reveal some long-awaited major AAA games.

Players will be able to try out demos for games like Valor Mortis, Erosion, Don’t Fret, and Way to the Woods.

Gamers are eagerly awaiting news on several long-awaited titles, and Summer Game Fest seems like the perfect place to reveal new trailers. The Xbox showcase is expected to show off games like Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and possibly Hideo Kojima’s new horror game, OD. We definitely know that fans will get an extended look at Gears of War: E-Day immediately following the main Xbox presentation.

PlayStation’s presentation is keeping things a bit under wraps, but we’re likely to see Marvel’s Wolverine. Beyond that, there’s room for surprises! Rumors suggest a new God of War game focused on Faye could be revealed, and this event would be the perfect place to do it. We might also get fresh looks at other upcoming PlayStation exclusives, such as Kena: Scars of Kosmora and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, with new trailers.

Oh, Yeah…One More Thing

Geoff Keighley often ends events with a final announcement, and last year’s Game Awards reveal of the game Highguard caused quite a stir. Typically, this “one more thing” moment is saved for major game announcements, like the RE Requiem teaser at Summer Game Fest 2025. However, Highguard, a live service hero shooter, launched in January 2026 and was shut down just 45 days later due to a lack of player interest. The announcement ultimately disappointed many gamers.

This year’s Summer Game Fest needs to deliver something truly impressive after the disappointment surrounding the cancellation of Highguard. Everyone is wondering what big game will be revealed, and many players have their wish lists.
