Where to Find and Use Umbraan Betta in Palia

The Umbraan Betta in Palia is related to the Palian Betta, but is a bit rarer. Players may have already come across this fish during their gameplay. Unlike the Palian Betta, Umbraan Bettas are known to be friendly towards each other.

All Umbraan Betta Locations in Palia

You can find the Umbraan Betta in the freshwater and pond areas of the Elderwood. Good places to fish for it include Mitana Grove, the Elderwood Central Stables, Red Blossom Cave, and the northern part of Mauvais Way. To catch one, use Glow Worms on your fishing rod during the evening and night – specifically between 6 PM and 3 AM in the game.

You might be able to catch an Umbraan Betta by fishing in the areas mentioned earlier, but only at fishing spots that are infected. To do so, you’ll need special fishing gear like the Elderwood Lure, Elderwood Potion, or a Bag of Illusion III.

How to Use Umbraan Betta in Palia

Okay, so once you’ve managed to reel in an Umbraan Betta – or a few! – you can actually use them. I’ve found they’re needed for a couple of quests. The daily “Mo Betta I” quest specifically asks for them, and so does Tamala’s longer quest, “The Nuture of Shadows.” You need to hand those fish in to keep moving forward and get the rewards for both.

Several villagers in Kilima Village, Bahari Bay, and the Elderwood will happily accept an Umbraan Betta each day as a gift to improve your friendship with them. Einar, Elouisa, Tau, Ulfe, and Zeki are some of those villagers, as long as you haven’t already reached maximum friendship. If you catch a high-quality (Star-Quality) Umbraan Betta, you can also display it as a decoration on your property or sell it for profit.

The Umbraan Betta is a key ingredient for crafting the Bag of Illusion III upgrade and is also used in several fish recipes, such as Fish Stew. Catching this fish also helps players complete three Achievements: Elderwood Angler, Master Elderwood Angler, and Infected Angler. The Infected Angler Achievement specifically requires catching infected fish in the Elderwood region.
