Yarn Ball, also known as Fons, is a special task in the game NTE: Neverness to Everness. Players must locate and defeat Mammon within the Gold Apple Collection Hall in the New Herland District to complete it.
Pinpointing the source of this strange occurrence can be difficult because the entrance is usually sealed. Here’s a guide on how to locate the Yarn Ball or Fons and overcome Mammon.
Yarn Ball or Fons Anomaly Commission Location in NTE
Find the “Yarn Ball” or “Fons” track within the anomaly commission menu, located in the New Herland District. You can access this menu by clicking the icon in the bottom right corner of the map.
Go to the ReroRero Phone Booth by the red circle on the map, then head east. You’ll soon see the large Gold Apple Collection Hall building in front of you.
Go into the Gold Apple Collection Hall through the main entrance. You’ll find it marked by two tall statues standing on either side of the stairs.
Inside, go straight ahead until you reach the grand staircase leading to the upper floor.
If you disregard the staircase and look to your right, you’ll see Date, the director of the Gold Apple Collection Hall, standing before a closed door.
If you speak with Date, he’ll complain that Mammon is misbehaving and has begun to eat Fons. Once you’ve finished the conversation, a door on Date’s right will unlock.
Go through this door and walk down the hallway, which leads further underground. You’ll eventually come to a big room with a tall statue in the center, and a winding staircase around it.
Take the staircase to go further down.
Once you reach the base of the statue, turn around, and you’ll see a golden elevator.
Interact with the call button next to the elevator, and the doors will open.
Okay, so to get into the basement, you need to head over to that number panel on the right and punch in ‘B1’. That’ll open the way down!
In the basement, follow the corridor, and it will lead you to Mammon.
Defeat Mammon to complete the Yarn Ball or Fons anomaly commission.
How to Beat Mammon in NTE
During this battle, Mammon isn’t particularly weak to any specific element from the Esper Cycle. Just assemble your strongest NTE team, use good strategy with positioning, and deal consistent damage – that should be enough to win!
Mammon can perform the following moves during the fight.
| Moves | Description |
|---|---|
| Claw Swing | Mammon swings its golden claws in front of its body using one of its arms. One variation of this move has a parry circle. |
| Claw Slam | Mammon slams a golden claw on the ground, and a golden circle appears and starts expanding on the ground from the point of impact. After a brief delay, golden pillars rise from the fully formed circle, dealing damage. |
| Tail Swipe | Mammon jumps back to create distance, swinging its tail behind its body in a lightning-fast arc. |
| Charge | Mammon charges across the boss arena in a straight line. |
| Golden Pillar Summon | Mammon lets out a screech, creating four summon circles around itself that explode into golden pillars after a brief delay. |
During this battle, the most important attack to watch for is Claw Slam, which creates golden pillars. This attack has a large area of effect, and if you’re not careful with your timing, the pillars can suddenly appear and catch you off guard.
Mammon is a quick enemy, so you’ll need to watch for the red flash before he attacks if you want to dodge in time.
