WWE 2K26 Shutdown Date Officially Revealed, WWE 2K27 Development Confirmed

According to recent announcements from 2K Support and Take-Two’s latest earnings report, the online features for WWE 2K26 will be discontinued, and work on WWE 2K27 is already underway. While a new WWE 2K game every year is expected, some players may be disappointed to hear about the end of online play for WWE 2K26.

Despite the hype, WWE 2K26 didn’t resonate well with many players. My review pointed out that it was more disappointing than previous games, largely because a lack of innovation held back the core gameplay. This was even before the negative reaction to the Ringside Pass became public. While it’s unclear if the Ringside Pass will be included in WWE 2K27, fans are already aware it’s likely happening.

  • WWE 2K26 Online Services Shutting Down on March 31, 2028

During a recent earnings call, Take-Two Interactive, the company behind 2K Games, confirmed that GTA 6 is still on track for release in November 2026. While GTA 6 was the biggest announcement, 2K also revealed they’re currently working on several other games, including WWE 2K27, NBA 2K27, PGA Tour 2K27, a project called Ethos, and BioShock 4. It wasn’t a huge update, but fans will appreciate the confirmation.

The upcoming shutdown of WWE 2K26 is a key concern. While the game is currently playable and still receiving downloadable content, 2K recently announced on its support page that online services for the PC, PlayStation, Switch 2, and Xbox versions will be discontinued on March 31, 2028. This gives fans less than two years to enjoy the online features of this game.

This pattern is typical for the WWE 2K series. Online services for WWE 2K24 ended on March 31st, and WWE 2K25 will follow suit on March 31, 2027. This means fans can anticipate online support for WWE 2K26 ending a year later, and WWE 2K27 after that. With WWE 2K27 now confirmed, this cycle is expected to continue with all future WWE 2K games.

Okay, so while we wait for whatever’s next, 2K is keeping the content coming for WWE 2K26! They’ve got a bunch of DLC packs planned over the next few months. In June, we’re getting a pack with Brian Pillman, La Parka, Matt Cardona, and Torrie Wilson. Then in July, Jelly Roll, Lady Shani, Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy are joining the roster. September brings Bam Bam Bigelow, Brie Bella, Pagano, and Danhausen, and finally, in October, they’re wrapping things up with Earthquake, Octagon Jr., Typhoon, and Royce Keys. It’s a lot of new wrestlers to play as!
