Monica Long, President of Ripple, believes decentralized identities are a key area where XRP could become the leading technology. She explained that these identities have the potential to significantly change how things are done.
Ripple President Reveals Another Key Area For XRP
Crypto expert John Squire recently highlighted a statement from the Ripple President, explaining how decentralized identities could give people more control over their personal data, currently held by traditional web companies. This technology would allow individuals to create a digital version of their identity on networks like the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
Decentralized identities are poised to revolutionize how we manage personal data, according to experts like John Squire, who calls them a “game-changer.” This new system will allow individuals to create a secure, portable token on the XRP Ledger containing their identity information, KYC data, and even sensitive details like DNA. Crucially, this token will be transportable and give people complete control over who has access to their information.
A financial commentator explained that new digital identity technology will allow people to verify information about themselves without sharing the details. The XRP Ledger is moving forward with this technology, called zero-knowledge proofs, to increase privacy for its users. Recently, commentator Pumpius pointed out that the network successfully completed its first zero-knowledge privacy transaction on its test network – a first for the industry.
According to the expert, the DNA Protocol powers the confidential transactions happening on the XRP Ledger. It transforms real-world information into a secure, zero-knowledge proof that’s verified on the blockchain without revealing any private details. Pumpius explained that by adding this zero-knowledge proof technology to the XRPL, banks, governments, and other organizations can confirm important information – like identity verification, medical history, financial details, and regulatory compliance – without actually accessing the sensitive data itself.
ZK Technology Will Be A Game Changer On XRPL
Aanchal Malhotra, Ripple’s Head of Research, believes that adding zero-knowledge technology would be a significant benefit to the XRP Ledger. She explained that this technology opens up many possibilities for new and innovative applications, and would enhance privacy features on the network, potentially attracting more institutional interest.
According to crypto analyst Minus, zero-knowledge (ZK) technology will allow for both privacy and regulatory compliance. He believes this will unlock selective data sharing and dramatically improve scalability, allowing institutions to achieve both privacy and compliance – essentially getting the best of both worlds.
The XRP Ledger is actively adding privacy features directly into its network. This includes features like Permissioned Domains, which let institutions control who can access certain data, and Confidential Multi-Purpose Tokens, which keep account balances and transaction details hidden.
As of today, XRP is trading at approximately $1.31, a slight decrease from its price 24 hours ago, based on CoinMarketCap data.
