15 Years Later, Oda Is Officially Upgrading Luffy’s Haki In Elbaph

During the two-year time skip, Monkey D. Luffy began learning Haki from Silvers Rayleigh and has since become incredibly skilled. Now, as one of the Four Emperors, he’s essentially mastered Haki, allowing him to fight on par with the strongest pirates and Marines. However, even this immense power isn’t enough to defeat Nerona Imu, so the story is building towards Luffy further enhancing his Haki in the Elbaph arc – a development that’s been hinted at throughout the One Piece story for the past 15 years.

Breaking Down Luffy’s Haki Growth In The Land Of Giants

The Elbaph Arc has significantly improved Luffy’s Haki abilities in two key areas. We first saw a hint of this improvement in his Observation Haki while he was waiting for Loki to recover in the Underworld. When Chopper and Scopper Gaban began falling from the Sun World of Elbaph, Luffy instantly knew exactly who it was and what was happening, even without seeing them. Sanji could only sense that someone was falling, but couldn’t identify them. This demonstrates Luffy’s greatly enhanced Observation Haki, also known as the “Voice of all Things,” which allows him to perceive things with incredible accuracy.

The Voice of All Things is a special ability related to Observation Haki, but it’s far more powerful. While Luffy hasn’t fully mastered it yet, he first demonstrated it 15 years ago at Fishman Island, and it’s now beginning to fully develop during the Elbaph Arc, greatly increasing his strength. It potentially allows him to negate the Observation Haki of others – a skill that Shanks has perfected.

Why Refined Conqueror’s Haki Is Next For The Straw Hat Captain

Luffy is developing a more advanced form of Conqueror’s Haki while in Elbaph. After speaking with Scopper Gaban, Luffy learned that mastering this ability is crucial if he wants to defeat the Holy Knights. Gaban explained that only by fully understanding and utilizing Conqueror’s Haki can Luffy consistently harm the seemingly immortal beings in the world of One Piece.

Remember exactly how you’re using your Supreme King’s Color. These opponents can be defeated—they aren’t invincible! – Gaban, Chapter 1152

Luffy hasn’t yet found a way to truly defeat the Immortals. Despite using even his most powerful abilities, like Conqueror’s Haki, they keep fighting. This needs to change quickly. The upcoming Elbaph arc will likely give Luffy the boost he needs to surpass powerful opponents like the Holy Knights and the Five Elders, and even match the strength of someone like Nerona Imu. Therefore, Luffy absolutely needs to significantly improve his Conqueror’s Haki during the Elbaph arc to reach the next level of power.

Yonko Luffy’s Overall Power Level After Elbaph

Luffy is already incredibly powerful as one of the Four Emperors, but his recent Haki improvements during the events on Elbaf – specifically in Observation and Conqueror’s Haki – will make him far surpass his rivals. He’s destined to be stronger than all the other Emperors and even the Admirals. Ultimately, Luffy will confront Nerona Imu, the true ruler of the world and the founder of the World Government, with the goal of dismantling this oppressive organization that has controlled the world for centuries.

Luffy needs to fully become the Sun God Nika, and that means reaching a power level beyond anything we’ve ever seen – surpassing even legends like Roger and Rocks. His journey begins on Elbaph. Having already mastered two significant Haki upgrades, Luffy is poised to exceed the strength of the Emperors and get closer to the power of the Pirate King. This growth will be crucial as the final war approaches.
