Reviews for Forza Horizon 6 are in, and the open-world racing game is currently the top-rated game of 2026. It’s also the third game this year to launch with an average score of 90 or higher on OpenCritic.
I’m so excited! Forza Horizon 6 officially came out on May 19th, but if you got the Premium Edition, you could start playing a few days early on May 15th. The first reviews actually started coming out on May 14th, which was awesome – I couldn’t wait to see what everyone thought!

The game currently has a “Mighty” rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 91 out of 100 and 100% of reviewers recommending it. Based on 103 professional reviews, Forza Horizon 6 is the highest-rated game of 2026 so far, surpassing both Pokemon Pokopia and Lost and Found Co., which each scored 90.

Critics generally agree that Forza Horizon 6 is a fantastic evolution of the series, improving almost every aspect, from how you advance in the game to the world itself and how you customize cars. Like past Forza Horizon games, it’s still incredibly fun to drive, offering a balance between arcade-style fun and realistic handling that you can adjust to your liking. One of the biggest improvements is how the game lets you make progress – you can enjoy taking photos, completing deliveries, racing, or just exploring, and everything feels rewarding, even in short bursts of gameplay.
According to OpenCritic’s rankings of the most anticipated 2026 games, PC is the leading platform, with nine of the top ten titles available to play on it. Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S each have three games on the list. The Switch 2 currently offers access to four of these highly-rated games. The PS5 is expected to have a similar number soon, as Forza Horizon 6 is confirmed to be coming to the console, though it won’t be available at the game’s initial release. The PlayStation version is planned for a late 2026 launch, but a specific date hasn’t been announced yet.
