5 Shonen Heroes Who Could Defeat Godzilla

Godzilla is a hugely powerful and frightening monster, deeply rooted in Japanese culture. For decades, his films have scared audiences, and he’s often seen as almost impossible to defeat. But what if Godzilla went up against the brave and determined heroes from popular shonen anime and manga? Could they actually win?

Let’s imagine a monster on this immense scale and compare it to Godzilla. That raises an interesting question: which heroes from popular action anime (shonen) could actually win in a fight against it?

Vegeta

The Saiyan Doesn’t Hesitate and Will Finish Off the Monster Immediately

I’ve thought about how Goku and Vegeta would fare against Godzilla, and honestly, based on their strength in Dragon Ball, they could definitely win. However, if Godzilla showed up in their universe, I think Goku would take a ‘wait and see’ approach, maybe wanting to test Godzilla’s strength first. Vegeta, though? He’s the opposite – he’d jump right into battle and try to take Godzilla down immediately.

When Vegeta met Godzilla, the monster immediately attacked with its signature atomic breath. Vegeta skillfully dodged the blast and then countered, aiming for what he believed was Godzilla’s weak spot – its neck. Enraged, Godzilla responded by unleashing a more powerful nuclear attack, transforming into Burning Mode in an attempt to defeat Vegeta.

By that point, Vegeta would be ready for any attack and would launch his finishing move. He’d quickly overwhelm the monster with a barrage of punches and kicks, ending with a powerful Final Flash that would obliterate it. It’s important to remember Vegeta can destroy entire planets and is significantly faster and stronger than Godzilla. While Godzilla might have more endurance, Vegeta could withstand that and is better at dodging attacks. Even against the much stronger Godzilla Earth, Vegeta would simply need to transform into his Ultra Ego form – it would be an easy victory.

Saitama

Godzilla Wouldn’t Stand a Chance Against a Punch From the Hero

Even Godzilla might not stand a chance against Saitama from One Punch Man. Saitama is incredibly powerful and has very few equals. To actually defeat him, you’d need someone like Goku, a fighter who’s more adaptable than most.

Godzilla wouldn’t stand a chance against Saitama, the hero from One Punch Man. In fact, the fight would likely be underwhelming for Saitama. He could defeat Godzilla with a single, serious punch, given his demonstrated power. If Godzilla somehow survived, Saitama could simply increase his strength and finish him off with another punch. While the city would be completely destroyed in the process, Saitama could then relax and go shopping. The world would be safe, and no other monster would risk challenging him.

Ichigo Kurosaki

Spiritual Power and a Massive Sword Will Be Enough to Eliminate the Monster

Godzilla would have a really difficult fight against Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach. Though it wouldn’t be a short battle like it would be against Vegeta, Goku, or Saitama, Ichigo would ultimately be victorious.

Ichigo is capable of using spiritual energy and possesses powerful attacks that he could likely use to defend against Godzilla’s atomic blasts. He could counter Godzilla’s attacks with Getsuga Tensho, or a stronger version of it, and then use his Zangetsu to strike. Because Godzilla has incredibly tough skin, Ichigo would need to consistently attack to gradually damage the monster.

Ichigo, the main character in Bleach, is incredibly fast. This speed, combined with his powerful spiritual energy, would allow him to avoid Godzilla’s attacks and ultimately defeat the monster. While the fight would be prolonged, Godzilla wouldn’t stand a chance. Ichigo would simply need to continuously strike with his abilities until Godzilla is completely destroyed.

Naruto Uzumaki

You Can Always Count on a Powerful Ninja to Save the World

Naruto is a powerful fighter, especially against huge opponents. He’s incredibly fast and agile, constantly dodging Godzilla’s attacks and making it difficult for the monster to hit him.

Godzilla will be even more baffled when Naruto starts creating multiple copies of himself, giving Naruto a huge edge in the battle. This will allow Naruto to study Godzilla’s weaknesses and take control, ultimately leading to victory. Godzilla doesn’t stand a chance. He’ll waste valuable energy and time destroying the clones, and his lack of intelligence will be exploited by Naruto, sealing his fate.

To keep battling at his best, Naruto unlocks Six Paths Sage Mode and summons a giant avatar of Kurama, setting up a clash of titans against Godzilla. At this point, Godzilla doesn’t stand a chance, as Naruto’s power is unmatched. He’s ready to deliver the final blow with his devastating Tailed Beast Ball Rasenshuriken.

Haruhi Suzumiya

No One is More Powerful than Haruhi, and Not Even 30 Versions of Godzilla Could Defeat Her

If we were to pick an anime character who could beat Godzilla without destroying the Earth, it would probably be Haruhi Suzumiya. The main character from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya isn’t just known for making everyone learn a ridiculously catchy dance – she’s essentially a goddess with limitless power. If Godzilla showed up, she could simply imagine him gone, or even transformed into a cute little pet.

Suzumiya has almost limitless power – she could destroy or recreate the universe however she wants. Even something huge like Godzilla wouldn’t be a problem; if she wanted a challenge, she could simply picture powerful allies like Vegeta, Ichigo, Naruto, Saitama, and Goku fighting alongside her. It would be an epic team-up! While she could defeat Godzilla effortlessly, potentially making things too easy, her capabilities are still remarkable.

Bonus: Could Light Yagami Defeat Godzilla?

Light Yagami couldn’t kill Godzilla using the Death Note. “Godzilla” is just the name humans gave the monster, not its actual name, which the Death Note requires. Even if he could write a name, if Godzilla kept destroying Japan and killing people, Light himself would be at risk of dying.

Considering the circumstances, Light Yagami would probably use his Death Note to manipulate scientists into finding out Godzilla’s real name. Attempts by the military or politicians to control Godzilla likely wouldn’t succeed in destroying it. Even with his Shinigami Eyes, Light couldn’t learn Godzilla’s name because it isn’t a human being.

Light Yagami’s only chance of winning would be to learn Godzilla’s true name – perhaps by finding information in very old texts about powerful, otherworldly creatures. However, this was extremely unlikely, meaning Godzilla would probably win the fight.
