Fans finally got a look at what’s next for the Dragon Ball franchise at the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026. The event, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Ball anime, started strong with exciting news about Dragon Ball Super: Beerus and the future of the Dragon Ball Super remake.
The anime series Dragon Ball Super: Beerus marks the beginning of a full remake of Dragon Ball Super, first announced in January at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event. New details about Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, which will air on Fuji TV this fall, were revealed during the Battle Hour 2026 Dragon Ball Super special panel, along with hints of a brand-new anime project. 2026 promises to be an exciting year for Dragon Ball fans.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Will Transition Into the Dragon Ball Super: Frieza Anime
At the Dragon Ball Super special panel, a new Dragon Ball Super movie featuring Frieza was announced in a trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. Masako Nozawa, the voice of Goku, revealed the anime will be an improved version of the battle between Goku and Frieza. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is described as an enhanced remake of the Battle of Gods Saga – the first 15 episodes of Dragon Ball Super – with added scenes and updated animation. Toei Animation promises more immersive battles and a closer adaptation of the original manga.
The initial episodes of the Dragon Ball Super anime were noticeably rough in terms of animation quality. However, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus promises a significant improvement, delivering animation that’s smoother and more visually appealing, better reflecting the current Dragon Ball style and finally doing the Battle of Gods story justice. Toei’s promotion of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus as faithful to the original manga suggests the remake will trim the anime’s unnecessary filler and more closely follow the manga by Toyotarou and notes from Akira Toriyama. Similarly, Dragon Ball Super: Frieza will redo the episodes from the Ressurection F Saga, which were widely considered the weakest part of the Dragon Ball Super anime.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is Just the Start of the Anime Remake
With the upcoming adaptation of the Moro Saga in the Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol anime, it’s now clear that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is just the beginning of a larger plan to remake the entire Dragon Ball Super series. After finishing the Beerus arc, the anime will move on to retell the Frieza Saga – a preview of which was shown at today’s Dragon Ball Super panel. Following that, we can expect remakes of the Universe 6, Goku Black, and Jiren arcs. Finally, the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie will be adapted into an anime storyline, leading directly into the Moro Saga.
Following the current Galactic Patrol anime, the next story will be Dragon Ball Super: Granolah the Survivor, and after that, an anime version of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. This Super Hero anime will be unique because it will begin with the High School Saga featuring Trunks, and conclude with the manga’s epilogue—the battle between Gohan Beast and Ultra Instinct Goku on Beerus’ Planet. Once the anime remake of Dragon Ball Super reaches the point of the current manga, only the Black Frieza Saga will remain. Hopefully, by then, Toyotarou will have released a new manga series for Toei to adapt into animation.
