Upon resuming, “Dragon Ball Super” will embark on a new storyline, as the previous one has concluded. Although there’s plenty more to delve into, fans are primarily excited about the possibility of a Black Frieza storyline.
Previously, we’ve been introduced to Black Frieza, but there’s still a lot that remains unknown about him. Fans are buzzing with anticipation over the tidbits of information that have surfaced so far, and they can’t wait to witness this new form of Frieza in action, to discover his true capabilities in combat, and to see him test the mettle of Goku and Vegeta while simultaneously presenting a fresh danger to the universe.
When Will The Black Frieza Arc Start?
Right now, Dragon Ball Super isn’t airing new episodes. The series wrapped up the Super Hero Saga in March 2024, which incorporated the storyline from the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie and expanded upon it. Then, in February 2025, a fresh chapter was unveiled, focusing on a standalone tale linked to the Super Hero Saga. This particular arc runs from Chapter 91 to Chapter 104 (Volumes 21–24).
Although enthusiastic fans are eagerly anticipating the commencement of the Black Frieza arc when the manga resumes after its break, there’s no definite news about the sequential storyline. Since Toyotaro has dropped hints suggesting he might delve into the Black Frieza arc soon, it could be imminent; however, it’s also possible that Toyotaro will kick off an arc inspired by Dragon Ball Daima beforehand. Given this uncertainty, it would be prudent for Toyotaro to wrap up the manga quickly, as prolonging it might lead fans to criticize him for deviating from Toriyama’s original vision, especially if they are not satisfied with the narrative progression.

As a diehard Dragon Ball fan, I’ve been thrilled to witness the gradual unveiling of Black Frieza’s extraordinary powers. This transformation was first hinted at during the Granolah the Survivor Saga, but even before that, the movie “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” gave us a sneak peek into his future power-up. Intriguingly, Black Frieza unlocked this new form after undergoing rigorous training in a Hyperbolic Time Chamber he discovered on a planet he conquered. Over a span of 10 years, he dedicated himself to honing his skills within this chamber.
It seems he’s completely mastered this latest technique, making him more formidable than ever before, given his power levels are nearly divine – as reported by V-JUMP, his strength is beyond measurement. Moreover, it’s been affirmed that he surpasses any Dragon Team member at their peak, leaving fans pondering the possibility of new transformations he might undergo.
Could The Story Continue After Black Frieza?
After Frieza, such an iconic villain, reaches his peak power, it seems unlikely to many fans that the story could continue in a satisfying way following such a significant battle. Beating Black Frieza would provide closure for fans, but few things might compare to the excitement surrounding a potential Black Frieza arc. The risks will likely be immense — considering that Black Frieza could potentially conquer the universe or act as he pleases without any interference.

The answer will hinge on the execution of this arc, but there seems to be a prevailing sentiment that it should be the concluding arc, as it would provide an impressive finale for the series.
When Will Dragon Ball Super Return?
Unfortunately, it seems like “Dragon Ball Super” won’t be coming out of its break anytime soon. Fans were hoping for some positive updates about the series on May 9th, which is known as Goku Day, but no such news was shared. Currently, fans are keeping their fingers crossed that the upcoming issue of “V-JUMP” might announce a comeback date, but until then, they can only stay patiently optimistic for more updates.
